Whether you work alone or own a business, a little end-of-day self-reflection can go a long way!
I know that thinking of questions to ask yourself after a long day of work can feel exhausting. The last thing you want to think about after you're done working is self-reflection questions.
But do you feel 100 percent satisfied with everything you did that day, every day? If the answer is yes, you might not need to keep reading.
?But if the answer was no, here are a few end-of-the-day questions you can ask to help keep yourself satisfied with your accomplishments.
1. What Did I Like About My Day?
This question is first because it's easiest to answer. Allow yourself to think about the good in your day first and foremost, then move from there.
2. Did I Accomplish Everything on My To-Do List?
This is a simple yes or no question. All you have to do is look at your to-do list (you have one of those, right?) to know the answer.
3. Why Didn't Everything Happen?
If the answer to the previous question is "no," that doesn't mean you have to be hard on yourself.
The hard part of this question is removing any feelings from it and answering with no self-judgment. Take a few minutes to think about this question and be honest with yourself about it.
?Maybe it was an external problem, like a meeting running longer than it was supposed to. Maybe you were just distracted or didn't feel like completing a certain task. Or perhaps you were over-zealous and put way too much on your list for that day! No matter the answer, it's important to remember that we don't always have to get everything done.
4. Is There Anything I Could've Done Differently?
Well, was there?
This answer doesn't have to playback into your to-do list. It could be as simple as addressing your coworkers differently or making sure you plan realistically.
Again, no matter the answer, the important part of this question is to not be hard on yourself.
5. Is There Anything I'd Like to Keep the Same?
To bring things back around, contemplate over whether or not there were any actions you'd like to keep the same.
Maybe you enjoyed the background music while you worked, or you’re satisfied with how you planned for that day. You could've liked the way you connected with someone in a meeting that day.
It's important to express gratitude for ourselves, especially after a hard day at work.
6. Is There Any Negativity I Don't Want to Carry Into Tomorrow?
This is your opportunity to JUST LET IT GO. Starting every day with a blank slate can reduce your risk of burnout or fatigue in the future. Every day is another day to start from the beginning and do the best you can. Learn from what didn’t work, and move on.?
Use These Questions to Ask Yourself to Remain Your Very Best
It's no secret that a little bit of self-reflection can go a long way, especially at work.
In light of this new work-from-home normal, it’s critical that you ask for what you need on a regular basis to avoid any kind of conflict that could distract you from getting work done. Using these questions to check in with yourself every day can help avoid unwanted arguments, and perhaps help you reach work-related resolutions in a productive manner.
If you work for yourself, these questions can help you set up work boundaries for yourself, and recognize what makes you feel productive, and what could hinder your progress.
