You have to STOP right there because you’re doing it WRONG! Great to see you here by the way, but if you found yourself here, I guess that perhaps, you’re wondering why you still aren’t growing on Instagram, and perhaps your follower count froze while your engagement level remains stagnant, or you just have been stuck problematizing why your account doesn’t progress. I have heard a lot about that, and I know that you think that you just are not going anywhere, and I know exactly why this happens, and I’m here to show you what you’re doing wrong and make you realize why!
But before we begin, just don’t blame yourself just yet. Mistakes do happen, but for you to stop and prevent those mistakes, here are TOP Instagram Mistakes that You Didn’t Know You Were Doing:
This is a ROOKIE mistake that many people still haven’t realized at all. Buying fake followers goes with buying automated likes and comments too. Some people just get tired and bored of waiting for their followers or engagements to increase so they tend to go with the shortcut by having as many likes, comments, and followers that they like. The numbers might look good for the account, but when we look closer, we’ll see that what it lacks is QUALITY. Sure there are over thousands and almost millions of followers, or six to seven digits of like counts, but these are not real people who are interested in what you offer. These are merely accounts that were created for the sake of numbers, and these numbers are just empty.
It doesn’t add up value to your account, and although you can see a lot of numbers, you really are not making sales or reaching the right audience, so, what is it for then, right? Your account is meant for you to connect with the right people and build authentic relationships through real-time engagements, and not paid followers.
2. Not Branding Your Posts
Spontaneity may be a good thing, but not for your feed though. Getting creative with your graphics or photos may sound fun and exciting, but they’ll end up getting your feed messy and without identity. When you are posting, make sure that you always include your brand including your watermarks, so that people will know that you are the one who creates them and you’re not just copying or stealing other brand’s graphics and photos.
Try to include not just your branding colors and pattern, but your watermark as well so that your content will help you grow as well because when someone shares your posts, they will be able to see your account handle and they will be directed to your account.
3. Inconsistency (in general)
This goes for inconsistent posting or posting every other week or when you just feel like it, not knowing what time it’s best to post, inconsistent graphics or visuals like mentioned above, inconsistent branding, and many more. Inconsistency just doesn’t have a place in the Instagram world, and you better stop that while it’s not yet too late.
Know that your account is one among the many that people see in their feed, and if you do not have consistency in your post, then they will not remember you at all. You should be consistent in your profile photo, logo, feed, and elements, as well as your branding colors. Add the fonts, texts, and brand voice as well. Be consistent in posting too, so that the Instagram algorithm will be in favor of you.

4. Low-Quality Photos and Captions
If you post low-quality photos and captions, what will you still expect from your followers? Nothing obviously! Asa business owner, influencer, coach, or entrepreneur, whatever profession you might be in, you must appear professional, and the first step is by posting high-resolution images, and valuable content, and captions. “High-quality” is nearly synonymous with “professional” in the Instagram world, and with professional-looking Instagram photos and feed, your followers are more likely to trust you and purchase from you. Similarly, with a matching caption that has value, they will surely give that value back to you.
5. Too few, too many, or no hashtags at all
If you’re new on Instagram, you might not just know yet the importance of using hashtags. But what really is the accurate usage of hashtags?
Well, they need to be based on your niche, they need to be searchable and easily read or understood, they should not belong, and they should be somehow popular, but not too popular. There are many things to learn when using a hashtag strategy on Instagram, and it has many functions too. It can expand your reach, it can make you visible to people that are interested in your offer, and they categorize the posts that are of the same type. Although Instagram allows you to use 30, just think about this though: the more you use hashtags, the more likely you are going to be found. BUT, be careful not to put all of them in the captions, and put the others in the comments, so that people might not think that you’re just spamming. ANd don’t ever think of NOT using hashtags at all!
6. Poor CTA
If you think that your CTA can be as generic as you can do to make your job easier, then know that it actually hurts your Instagram growth. CTAs such as “double-tap this post” or “comment below” may be effective at first, but it is actually just a waste of effort because it only boosts your activity and not your reach. While these CTAs are still important, you might want to add in a caption that is personalized, asking your audience to actually do something that will benefit your brands such as checking ut your bio link, or website link. This is a lot more effective than the other CTAs and will provide you with more benefits than you have worked for.?
Conclusion:
A lot of people are not aware of these mistakes, and if you’re guilty of doing these practices, then it’s time for you to stop doing them and think about how it will change your account for the better! Sure, habits are hard to get out of, but as you realize the risks and efforts you’re wasting, you will be able to get out of these habits and start doing new ones that will not only help you grow but will also make your life easier.?
