6 Hacks to Never Run Out of Writing Ideas

Have you ever stared at a blank page with no clue what to write?

We've all been there. The horrific writer's block—a point where we've exhausted all our writing ideas until we got nothing left.

If you are a coach, course creator, or someone in the knowledge industry, your best asset is your words of wisdom. That's the number one reason anyone would want to follow your brand: to pick your brain on matters they care about.

As much as you want to keep churning out quality content for your audience when ideas run out, it takes a lot of work to fill in the blank page.

Luckily, there are hacks to make idea generation seem ridiculously fast and easy. Never run out of blog or content topics ever again!

Ready to beat that writer’s block? Let’s get into it.

Online Writing Tools

Sometimes all you need is a prompt to get back to writing.

The first three hacks are online tools you can use to generate or find prompts to help you get a picture of what to write about.

Typeshare Templates

Typeshare is a platform where you can write a blog or a post, and the system will share it across all platforms for you in a single click. The cool thing about using Typeshare is that they have templates to help you get started.

Say you want to write a blog about mental health; you can use their essay template to find an angle. Maybe a lesson from your past or a guide to being mentally healthy.

Answer the Public

When writing, you pick more than just a random topic. You want to write about your audience's wants and concerns to keep them interested. But how will you know what those are?

That's where Answer the Public comes in.

It's a tool that tells you what your audience is talking about or asking in search engines like Google. With the data, you can easily amaze your audience with content that knows what goes on in their heads.

DIY Idea Generation

Although online tools make your life easy, there are also hacks that you can do on your own.

Let's go over three brainstorming techniques to keep you writing.

AAAA framework

You'd be surprised how easy it is to generate ideas once you use this framework. This is an incredible hack from?Ship 30 for 30—a writing course that teaches the fundamentals of digital writing.

AAAA stands for:

  • Actionable:?How-to, Quick Guides, Top Ways
  • Aspirational:?Lessons, Habits, Moments
  • Anthropological:?Root cause, Reason
  • Analytical:?Statistics, Current Trends

These four prompts are what you use to turn a single idea into unlimited topics to write about. All you need to do is plug the concept into the prompts. Here's an example:

Working concept: Mental Health

  • Actionable:?How to boost your mental health on busy days
  • Aspirational:?5 routines to keep you mentally stable
  • Anthropological:?Here's why you get depleted all the time
  • Analytical:?6 trends to create a mentally healthier workplace

Dear Mom

A blank page can be daunting. Our writing becomes more robotic and rigid because of the pressure to fill it up.?Ann Handley?has an excellent tip for conquering that—start with the prompt "dear mom."

The idea is to write your piece to someone you're comfortable talking to (like mom!). It will help you loosen up and become more natural in expressing your ideas. And when it comes to idea generation, you can use the Dear Mom technique to think of more personable and heartfelt topics.

Idea Bank

Inspiration can come from random moments, like watching a movie and hearing a line that sparks an idea. Rather than dismiss it, why not store it somewhere for later?

Creating an idea bank will help you save time, cracking your brain on what to write by keeping all inspiration in one place. You can create a pinboard in Pinterest or a google folder for all potential motivations you can reference later.

Things to remember before you write

Now that you know how to generate ideas quickly, you won't have trouble churning content for your audience.

Before filling in those blank pages, remember that you need more things to have a topic in mind. You should still filter out what you should write with these questions:

  • Is it actionable??Make sure your audience will immediately benefit from what they'll read.
  • Is it relevant??Write something that speaks to your audience's current situation.
  • Who is it for??Remember that you're writing for your audience. Don't just choose a topic you?think?is good.
