“What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while”. Gretchen Rubin, Author of The Happiness Project and Better Than Before
It’s the tiny actions you do, day in and day out that separate successful business owners from everyone else.?
Here are 6 habits that my clients who consistently outperform their peers have adopted to help them stand out.??
- Everything you need to know you learned in kindergarten: The fundamentals of kindergarten are simple, be kind and play fair with others. It’s easy to let personal judgments cloud your feelings. Before you respond to a disgruntled client, team member or anyone for that matter, check in with yourself. What exactly are you reacting to? A little understanding goes a long way.
- Make a schedule that works for you: Whether you're up before the sun, burning the midnight oil or somewhere in between, everyone has a time where they are more alert. Use that time to get the most important tasks done.
- Write it down (or record it): If I had a dime for every time that I had a great idea in the car AND thought I’d remember it, I’d be a gajillionaire. Now I voice record those thoughts when I’m driving and the rest of the time, I write all my ideas down in my Your Amazing Year Planner.?
- Keep it simple: Technology, gadgets, processes etc are only good if you use them AND they actually make your life easier. Get rid of anything that doesn’t work, is difficult, or you’re not using anymore. New opportunities arrive when there’s space for them to land in your personal space or digitally.
- Read: Running a business requires continuous learning. Developing the habit of reading, even if it’s only for 10 minutes a day. Reading improves focus, analytical skills and memory, plus you’ll learn all sorts of cool new stuff.?
- ?Be Present: Stop multitasking. Honor yourself and everyone around you by being present and focused on who you're with and what you're doing. You’ll get more done… promise.?
Change doesn’t happen overnight, nor will trying to overhaul your life. Do one, small thing and master it.?
