Blogging is not everyone’s favorite thing to pay attention to in the cannabis industry, especially when you’re busy innovating and thinking of ways to stand apart in the “sea of green”.
Having written over 20 million words on cannabis through various avenues since 2016, here are a few (non-technical) insights on what I can offer in terms of what makes a cannabis company’s blog have impact for B2B B2C marketing:
1. CLEAR TOPIC
Readers won't go past the first sentence if they don't know what they're reading about.
Think about the dreaded high school essay and the topic sentence. This sentence is a clear identifier of what the content will be about, and what is used to engage the reader.
2. STRONG FORMATTING
Everyone hates reading blocks of texts.
Clear formatting includes:
Formatting literally keeps the eyes engaged and can be an important learning tool for takeaways.
3. LEARNING OUTCOMES WITH TAKEAWAYS
It’s important the reader knows not only WHAT they're learning, but also WHY it’s important they learn it.
Learning outcomes help the reader understand what they’ll get from a written piece. Learning outcomes help the reader determine what they’ll be able to do, know, or understand as a result of reading the piece.
On the other side of that, clear takeaways ensure that the learner has direct and applicable learning, and in the case of cannabis marketing, a Call to Action is achieved.
