And with nearly 80% of all customer service interactions handled by artificial intelligence…

…it’s easy to see which way the wind is blowing. ??

But integrating new technology is never easy, so it’s advisable to collaborate with Search Engine Optimization professionals.

If that’s not an option yet, then you need an expert guide for incorporating AI into your SEO.

Well, what do we have here…

In this article, we’ll reveal:

  • What ChatGPT is, and how it’s disrupting the Search Engine Optimization industry.
  • The 6 ways that SEO experts will use AI in 2023.
  • 5 easy ways to produce effective copy & imagery from AI prompts.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a chatbot created by OpenAI. Powered by artificial intelligence, it uses natural language processing (NLP) to generate realistic content that’s conversational in tone.?

By curating and analyzing large volumes of data, ChatGPT produces optimized content that resonates with target audiences.?

This empowers you to outperform your competitors in organic search rankings while reducing the costs of manual, ongoing SEO.

Is the ChatGPT App Free?

Yes, GPT-3 is free for anyone with an OpenAI account. Still, if you invest time into the service, you must be confident that you’re using it effectively.

Ensure that your search engine optimization team is proficient at incorporating this technology into your on-page SEO.

Are Chatbots Safe?

Yes, in general, chatbots are considered safe for online use. Reputable companies design their apps with user security in mind.?

OpenAI, for example, offers “end-user monitoring to prevent misuse” and improve their safety tools.

That said, chatbot technology is relatively new.

As with any software, there may be bugs or vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malicious actors. Moreover, successful apps inspire less-than-reputable knock-offs.

Therefore, you must ensure that you only use applications from trusted sources.

How is ChatGPT Disrupting the SEO Industry?

AI-based apps, like ChatGPT, are having a major impact on how businesses approach search engine optimization.?

For the reasons we discuss below, these tools are often capable of providing better search results than some popular industry leaders.

To identify how chatbots are disrupting SEO, answer these questions:

  • What does NLP & machine learning have to do with Google’s Helpful Content Update?
  • How do chatbots empower you to engage with more consumers, more quickly?
  • How can you serve your customers proactively by analyzing language usage?
  • If your clients prefer to search by voice, are you prepared to be found?
  • What impact do these questions have on your customer experience?

NLP, Machine Learning, & Google’s Helpful Content Update

ChatGPT uses natural language processing to study how consumers use language when searching, converting, and otherwise engaging online. Coupled with machine learning, this empowers you to keep up with Google’s frequent updates.

Their August 2022 update is known as the “helpful content update” for its emphasis on web content with distinct, authoritative value to the searcher. Rather than reduce intent down to simple keywords, ChatGPT uses NLP and machine learning to focus on the context.

By better understanding the intent of your consumers’ searches, you can better position yourself on the SERP. Don’t just engage with keywords — show your clients that you understand them.

Your clients demand personalized, timely responses to their engagement.

This can be prohibitive, of course. Even a simple response to a blog comment must feel personalized, genuine, and unconditional.

Chatbots enable you to be in more than one conversation at once by harnessing artificial intelligence. You can use them to filter your clients towards the appropriate solution or to develop realistic responses to online engagement.

In fact, you can already employ AI as an e-commerce helpdesk with the help of Gorgias , one of Optimum7’s commercial partners. (They didn’t sponsor this article — we just feel they’re an excellent resource for B2B companies.)

Sometimes, it’s not what your clients say, it’s how they say it.

Let’s say that one of your customers searches for “[your product] red living room.”

?? ?? ???

Do they want your product, in red, for their living room? Or do they want the best version of your product to complement a red-dominant living room?

Context is critical. AI-powered chatbots analyze the language that your customers use to provide a clearer picture of their intent.

It’s 2023, can your customers find you by voice search?

Let’s play a game ?? If you use a voice assistant, ask: “How many e-commerce consumers prefer voice search?”

(If you want to keep it traditional ?? Copy/paste the question into your favorite search engine — then tell us why that’s Google in the comments below.)

If you get 71%, give the article a reaction. If not, let us know your top result in the comments.

To optimize your website for voice search, use AI tools with NLP and machine learning.

Your CX is your brand; are you providing the service your clients need?

Avoidable customer experience issues cost US businesses over $35 Billion in lost revenue every year.

We’ve discussed several ways that artificial intelligence improves your CX, including by providing direct customer service.

6 Ways that SEO Experts are Using ChatGPT in 2023

What could your business do with a chatbot that engages your audience in a real conversation?

How would you scale your business if you could employ AI for everything from answering questions to addressing mistakes?

Here are 6 expert ways to use AI tools for search engine optimization in 2023:

  1. Compose (Some) Content
  2. Research & Analyze Keywords
  3. Outline Your Content Strategy
  4. Clarify Searcher Intent
  5. Generate SERP-Optimized Titles
  6. Organize Data Reporting

Use artificial intelligence to inspire your content.

Major search engines like Google consider AI-composed content to be spam. Therefore, you can’t expect to generate, copy, paste, and rank.?

Instead, you can use ChatGPT as a guide for your content. Let it create a narrative for you to follow, but use your own words in the final copy.

However, not all content is alike; if your priority isn’t to dominate the SERP, then you may not have to worry about judgment from search engines. AI-generated content may be more than sufficient for some tasks, such as:

  • Ad Copy
  • Email Marketing
  • Landing Page Copy for Paid Search
  • Social Media

Use chatbots to research & analyze your keywords.

ChatGPT can provide a list of related keywords quickly and efficiently. Moreover, it can provide contextual analysis for a deeper understanding of your keyword strategy.

For example, we asked “is "custom functionality" or "custom development" easier to rank for?”

Text reads "Both "custom functionality"? and "custom development"? are specific terms that refer to the creation of unique software or features tailored to the needs of a particular business or organization. In terms of search engine optimization (SEO), the ease of ranking for these terms would depend on the level of competition for those keywords in the industry. It is likely that more general terms such as "software development"? or "custom software"? will have more competition and be more difficult to rank for. It is recommended that you conduct keyword research to identify which terms are the most relevant and have the least competition, and then optimize your website and content for those keywords."?

The response was good, but we felt it sounded more like a lesson on keyword research, density, and difficulty than an answer to our prompt.

So we clarified: “which would you say is the easier term to rank for?”

Text reads "It is difficult to say which term, "custom functionality"? or "custom development"? would be & easier to rank for without conducting keyword research. The competition for a specific keyword can vary depending on the industry, location, and many other factors. It is recommended that you conduct keyword research to identify which terms are the most relevant and have the least competition, and then optimize your website and content for those keywords. In general, long-tail keywords such as "custom functionality for small business"? or "custom development for e-commerce"? tend to have less competition and be easier to rank for than more general terms like "custom software development"? or "custom functionality"?. However, the best approach would be to conduct keyword research in your industry and location, to get a more accurate understanding of the competition and search volume for those kevwords."?

Wow, right? Yes, it’s still a lesson on research, but a thorough one — and a great explanation as to why it wasn’t more direct in the first response.

And note the insight that it provides in the penultimate paragraph. It suggests new key phrases based on what it thinks we want: the best term for ranking in this niche.

Use ChatGPT to outline your content strategy.

We prompted ChatGPT to “outline a content marketing strategy.”?

It provided 10 clear steps to establish an ongoing content campaign, from defining your target audience to monitoring and analyzing results.

Admittedly, in its first response, it didn’t provide information that you couldn’t already find from leading digital marketing experts.?

But that’s the point: it displayed the information quickly without the need to scroll through the SERP. Use the outline as a starting point, or input more information to generate specific solutions.

Use AI to clarify searcher intent.

We asked ChatGPT “what should I know about businesses that Google for "custom e-commerce development?

Text reads "Businesses that search for "custom e-commerce development"? are likely looking for a customized solution for their online store or marketplace. Here are a few things you should know about these businesses: 1. They are looking for a specific solution: These businesses are likely looking for a solution that is tailored to their specific needs and goals. They may have specific requirements that a pre-built e-commerce platform cannot accommodate. 2. They may have a unique business model: Businesses that search for "custom e-commerce development"? may have a unique business model or may operate in a niche market. They may require a custom e-commerce platform that can support their unique business processes. 3. They may have high expectations: Businesses that are searching for "custom e-commerce development"? may have high expectations for the functionality and performance of their online store or marketplace. They may be looking for a platform that can provide a seamless user experience, strong security, and robust analytics. 4. They may be willing to invest more: Businesses that are searching for "custom e-commerce development"? may be willing to invest more resources in order to get the specific solution they are looking for. They may be willing to pay more for a custom solution than a pre- built platform."?

That’s not even the complete response, but even so, we know some important things about my target audience:

Their needs are specific, their businesses are unique, their expectations are high, and they prefer the best quality over the lowest price tag.

For these clients, we can’t offer a generic solution at a reduced price. In fact, we can charge what we’re worth because these searchers want the value that we have to offer.

Use ChatGPT to dominate Search Engine Results Pages.

Seriously, just input this prompt: “generate titles for content about [topic]” — remembering to replace [topic] with the topic of your choice.

ChatGPT will suggest headings based on your prompt. You’ll see a variety of related key phrases, a diversity of subjects, and the use of engaging language (for example, “How to…”).?

We could do it, and provide you with yet another screenshot, but let’s switch it up instead. Post a screenshot of your results in the comments below.

Use artificial intelligence to organize your data reporting.

You can compose analytic reports using regular expressions in Google Search Console and Google Analytics.

But this is tedious and time-consuming for anyone without a technical background.

ChatGPT simplifies this task by generating regular expressions that can be copied and pasted into the GSC filter feed!

How to Create AI Prompts to Generate Usable Copy

Generating usable copy is easy with AI tools like ChatGPT. The trick is in knowing how to talk to chatbots.

Fortunately, NLP and machine learning enables you to hold conversations with these tools in a realistic manner. Therefore, your prompts will come naturally over time.

However, it’s a good idea to remember 3 basic rules: be clear, be concise, and be direct. For example, one of these is more clear, even if the other is technically more concise:

  • “Why do B2B businesses search for custom e-commmerce development?”
  • “custom e-commmerce development intent”

5 Examples of Effective AI Prompts

Below, we provide 5 examples of effective ChatGPT prompts for generating usable copy.

Remember to adjust the example phrases as necessary; for example, replace ‘custom e-commerce development’ with a primary keyword of your choice.

  1. “Outline a content marketing strategy”
  2. “Summarize the key points in the article ‘6 Easy Ways to Use ChatGPT Like a Search Engine Optimization Expert’”
  3. “List related keywords for custom e-commerce development”
  4. “Summarize ChatGPT in a social media post”
  5. “List common pain points for B2B e-commerce companies”

Text includes the prompt for ChatGPT, which reads "list common pain points for B2B e-commerce companies"? and the response provided by ChatGPT which reads "1. Difficulty in generating leads and acquiring new customers 2. Complex sales cycles and lengthy negotiations 3. Difficulty in differentiating products and services from competitors 4. Limited visibility into customer purchasing behavior and preferences 5. Difficulty in maintaining and updating product information and inventory 6. Lack of integration with existing systems and processes 7. Limited ability to personalize the buying experience for customers 8. Difficulty in handling large orders and processing bulk payments 9. Limited ability to upsell or cross-sell products 10. Difficulty in providing effective customer support and service."?
