6 - Each to their own

6 - Each to their own

In 2018, I wrote an article here, in Spanish, entitled "Multifunctional Creatives: Truth or Utopia?", talking about the different ways of being creative, in order to provide schools and employers with elements with which to see people in their integral dimension.

In this edition, let's think about the human differences that make people human (not disposable resources).

I always write based on the OntoPsiquis? theory that I created and developed with my colleague Dr. Claudia Cristina Behn-Eschenburg Schollenberger , and my focus is on what each person is and trying to empower them to build a life that fits them.

We are different, and that's okay, as you can see from this short list of genes:

  • Generosity: AVPR1a
  • Optimism, self-esteem, and self-control: OXTR, alleles A and B
  • Expression of positive thoughts and feelings: 5-HTTLPR
  • Leadership: rs4950
  • Stress Response: COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase), Met158 and Val158 alleles
  • Infidelity: AVPR1a, allele 334
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder: several genes, with a focus on those on chromosome 15
  • Bellicosity: MAOA (Mono Amino Oxi-dase A)
  • Motives for neurological uniqueness: Transposons
  • Predisposition to depression: 5-HTT, short (s) and long (l) versions

Genes like yours, mine, and everyone else's, without us having or needing the full list.

Natural leaders and positive people who don't seek or learn to be.

Natural monogamists and people prone to depression. Not everyone is unfaithful or depressed.

There is a genetic determination that drives a person to develop and maintain certain behaviors.

Culture does not accept this genetic determinism because it leaves it out of the equation.

Knowing this reality, will you continue to see people in the same way so that you can continue to ask them to change or conform to your demands?

Standardizing the individual means preventing their natural essence from manifesting so that they become just another member of the group.

Fear is used to manipulate and control; scarcity is used to break the will and make people accept undeserved treatment or jobs that have nothing to do with who they are.

Remember that this violates the individual and exposes the hypocrisy of systems that seek to "provide opportunities for development" but do not clarify that these are in the context of using them to subjugate and ensure the availability of a workforce willing to do anything to be seen or to be able to consume in life...not build it.

Do you accept that both you and the other are different and have the right to be so?

Each to their own.
