6 Best Conferences for Software Developers in the Midwest

Whether it’s for networking, learning something new, finding a job, or supporting your local developer community—conferences can be very beneficial for software developers of varying experiences. And with the pandemic seemingly winding down, they present a great opportunity to get back out and foster community with other local devs.?

In the list below, we highlight six of our favorite conferences and events for software developers—or even aspiring developers—in the Midwest. We’ll break down why we think software developers will benefit from attending and what to expect once you’re there. Note that these are also conferences that Tech Elevator and/or our staff have a presence at, so be sure to keep an eye out for us if you attend.?

Our 6 Picks for Midwest Software Development Conferences:

1. Stir Trek?

The Stir Trek conference is a one-day conference in Columbus, OH that focuses on teaching software developers, and other industry professionals, the latest and greatest in technology, techniques and tools. The full day of content, which last year was in early May and had a hybrid option, is always concluded with a screening of a blockbuster film. Last year’s screening was of Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Stir Trek is a great event to attend if you’re just starting out and would like to learn something new as well as a good way to network locally and nationally. Tickets for the conference usually go on sale two months before the conference date.?

2. CodeMash?

CodeMash is a four-day conference in Sandusky, OH that will run from January 10-13, 2023. It focuses on learning new skills in the tech space and is a great place to network in the tech community and develop/learn new skills. CodeMash is also considered one of the more family-friendly conferences because it is based out of the Kalahari Resorts that has an indoor waterpark along with KidzMash, which is a sub-conference just for children and their parents. CodeMash pulls in people from all experience levels and positions in the tech space. There is always something new to learn in tech and this is a great conference to attend if you’re looking to network and make learning a priority.?

3. Momentum?

The Momentum Developer Conference is a one-day conference in Cincinnati, OH that is a great place for software developers to learn new skills, network in the tech community, and “geek out.” In 2022, the Hard Rock Casino will be hosting the conference on October 20 and a ticket will get you access to 30 sessions, breakfast and lunch, drinks throughout the day, and connections with other developers. This is another conference with great networking opportunities as well as access to several sessions from speakers around the globe.?

4. Cincy Deliver?

The Ciny Deliver conference is a one-day conference in Cincinnati, OH that originally started out as two separate conferences–The Cincinnati Day of Agile and Cincy.Develop. This conference typically runs in the summer; in 2022 it was held in July, and focuses on delivering quality software. If you’re in the Cincinnati area or close by, then look into attending to learn some new things about software development and network.?

5. TechBash?

TechBash is a four-day conference at Kalahari Resorts Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania that will run from November 8-11, 2022. This conference hosts several keynote speeches, speakers and workshops of varying tech-related topics. TechBash is another great conference for networking and learning new things in the tech space to take your skills to the next level.??

6. Indy.Code()?

Indy.Code() is a one-day conference on October 19 at the 502 East Event Centre in Carmel, Indiana, which is just north of Indianapolis. This conference will host a variety of sessions from local, national, and international speakers around software development topics. Indy.Code() is a great place to start if you’re in the Indianapolis area looking to grow your skills, learn new topics and network with a larger tech community. Early bird registration usually starts two months before the conference.?
