5MM #63: You are standing on a mountain of value

Happy Monday-

For those new to the newsletter, the "5-Minute Monday" is 3 quick-hitters (hence the name 5 minute...) designed to get you thinking early in the week around Marketing, Personal Development, and Entrepreneurship.

But first, a few words from someone much smarter than myself...

There are people that things happen to and people who make things happen. And you need to land on which one you want to be. And when you do that, when you decide what you want to feel, that is the true source of power. And when you get there, people will see what you want them to see on your face. Most people never figure this out. The ones that do, they get to run the world.

The Pluralized Verb Tactic

It's not the most exciting name for a marketing tactic I learned from Todd Brown, but it's effective. When you pluralize the verb in your marketing, you'll see that it conveys to the prospect that the system is doing the work you’re presenting.

You want them to feel like this is as easy and achievable as possible to get the desired results.

Let me give you an example.

There was an ad campaign that ran years ago that said:

"Put music in your life."

It did pretty well, but the story goes that they reran the ad, but it had an error. It said:

"Puts music in your life."

Apparently, adding the "s" created an improvement rate of over 400%.

The psychology behind it is when it just said "Put," it implies that the prospect has to do the work. "Put(s)" implies the product will do the work for you. Not going to guarantee a 400% improvement, but this is a fun, new tactic to test out.

How To Manage Your Mood

There is no getting around it. There will be days when you are just in a bad mood. That is just life. But in this article, Darius Foroux gives us two ways to manage our mood.

Below is a quick summary:

  1. Keep an activity log to monitor your mood for the next two weeks. Find the usual triggers that cause your bad mood. Once you identify them, plan a strategy to minimize their impact on your life.
  2. Visualize good things, then move on. Set a goal for yourself to never be stuck in a bad mood for more than 10 minutes.

Life is too short to drown in your own misery. Get over yourself and start enjoying life more.

And it all starts with changing your mood.

Becoming a Key Person of Influence

I may have plugged "Key Person of Influence" before, but I wanted to pull out an excerpt from it this week (and because Daniel Priestley and his books are just that good.) Daniel recommends, on your bathroom mirror, stick a sign that reads:

I am already standing on a mountain of value. My story is valuable, my experience is unique, and I am highly valuable as I am. All of my future learning will come from the process of creative output.

He goes on to say...

You don’t need to learn new skills; you are ready to create value now. You are no longer on this planet to be a consumer; you are here to be a producer. You’re ready to establish yourself as a Key Person of Influence through creative output not through further consumption. All of your future learning will come from the process of producing value not through pursuing other people’s story or distant trends.

This struck a chord.

If you are like me, you have taken the classes, joined the cohorts, and watched the videos. Becoming successful comes from creative output, not through further consumption.

Stay Curious,

-Max

First Class Founders — Tips for Creators, Solopreneurs, Startup Entrepreneurs

I stumbled upon the "First Class Founders" podcast a few weeks ago and have been impressed with the content and production value. There are a lot of good episodes, but I really enjoyed this one because it gives you a good look behind the scenes of Twitter (or X or whatever) ghostwriting and how some of these accounts really skyrocket their growth.

Hint - it's not just posting as much as possible.

P.S. Know someone who would like this content? I would really appreciate it if you sent them here:
