5k for 5k - Lets go, lets row!

Preacta are very proud to announce that we have partnered with the guys at Rowed Less Travelled (RLT) who are raising awareness and fundraising for the charity The Black Dog Institute who are recognised as a global pioneer in the identification, prevention and treatment of mental illness and the promotion of well-being.

RLT are four impressive guys (Martin Fletcher, Ryan Grace, Nick Sargent & Cam Mosytn) from Bondi with big dreams, who are taking part in the world’s toughest rowing race The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, rowing unsupported for 5,000 km's across the Atlantic Ocean. The boys of RLT will row for approximately 45 days battling waves, facing exhaustion, sleeping in small spaces and tolerating each other ?? all in aid of raising $250,000 for The Black Dog Institute. 

 The race starts 12th December at midday, departing from the Canary Islands and finishes in the Caribbean. The team will row in shifts of 2 hours on / 2 hours off, round the clock until that first frosty beer in Antigua approx. 45 days later! 

One of the pillars that forms part of Preacta’s DNA is Respect & Care for the whole person which every single person in our business demonstrates daily. As part of this, as a business we have committed to support and raise awareness around mental health and Preacta are very proud to be an official sponsor of Rowed Less Travelled. As part of the fundraising campaign we have donated a whopping $25,000 which counts as 10% of the target that the boys have set to raise. In addition to our donation we have also attended a fantastic charity ball hosted by the RLT team, whereby profits from the event from tables purchased and prizes auctioned on the night have been put towards the fundraising goal amount!

We may not be quite brave enough to take on the open seas, however, the next part of our journey to support these amazing inspirational young men over the next 3 months, Team Preacta will face our very own challenge of rowing around the clock to reach our target of rowing 5000 km's. 

From our vibrant Circular Quay office #teampreacta will face the balance of everyday life, juggling work commitments and busy personal lives whilst also #rowingforagoodcause and supporting each other, reaching new goals and having some light hearted fun to overcome and raise awareness around mental illness.

We are super proud that every Preacta employee is fully embracing this challenge and committed to achieving and contributing - our goal is to raise $5,000 for rowing 5,000 km's for The Black Dog Institute.

Kicking off today gives us approximately – 64 working days before the RLT are expected to arrive at the finish line…which means that our team of 18 will each row approx. 5 km per day from now until Australia day, to support our RLT boys, because everyone deserves to have #someonetorowwith
