5Gs' of Great People Managers
In continuation of my last article "Are you a PMO or PMP", here are some of the major traits of great people managers explained through a 5G model
- Grind Insecurity: These managers are not insecure to see their people progressing. In fact, they believe, either you could be a great manager or an insecure person. They consider the phrase "treat someone the way you like to be treated" as good intention but they treat their people in a way, people want to be treated.
- Glow as Catalyst: These managers work as power supply and they know how to turn talent into performance. To understand a person they have a great ability to look into the people and explain the talent of each resource in detail.
- Groom for Future: They have a belief: Hire for talent and train for growth
- Glean the Strength: They get to know people and their individual strengths, learning styles and their triggers. They always see what is left in the envelope of talent instead of trying to figure out what was left out.
- Govern Value: They have a positive approach to the future. They spend less time discussing what happened and more time in what if, what could?

4 年Great read! Strongly agree to the point that managers should catalyze growth among team members. Its just a shame how this is still a rarity in many organizations.
