Fiber Cable Solution Technology Co.,Ltd.
FCST- Better FTTx, Better Life.
5G technology is the abbreviation of the fifth generation of mobile communication technology and is a hot topic in the current communication technology field. It not only represents the progress of communication technology, but also represents the great progress of human society in information transmission and interconnection. Compared with previous communication technologies, 5G technology has higher speed, lower latency and greater capacity, bringing unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the development of future society.
There are many professional abbreviations in the industry. The following content explains the series starting with the letter D and E. I hope it will be helpful to everyone.
D Series Terminology
DC
Dual Connectivity / Dual Carrier / Direct Current
Enables devices to connect to multiple nodes simultaneously (Dual Connectivity); aggregates carriers to boost throughput (Dual Carrier); provides a constant, stable current (Direct Current) essential for powering telecom equipment.
DCCH
Dedicated Control Channel
A channel reserved for transmitting control signals, ensuring that vital network instructions are delivered clearly and reliably.
DCI
Downlink Control Information
Carries crucial control data from the base station to user equipment, facilitating efficient and reliable downlink communication in 5G networks.
DDoS
Distributed Denial of Service Attack
A serious security threat where multiple compromised systems flood a target with excessive traffic, overloading its resources and preventing legitimate access.
DES
Data Encryption Standard
A symmetric encryption algorithm once widely used for data security. Although largely replaced by AES today, DES laid the foundation for modern encryption methods.
DSCP
Differentiated Services Code Point
Used in IP headers to classify and prioritize network traffic according to Quality of Service (QoS), ensuring high-priority data (like voice or video) is transmitted efficiently even during congestion.
DTCH
Dedicated Traffic Channel
A dedicated channel for user data, ensuring that each call or data session gets a stable, interference-free transmission path.
DTX
Discontinuous Transmission
A technique that conserves bandwidth and energy by turning off transmission during periods of silence or low activity, enhancing overall network efficiency.
E Series Terminology
eCPRI
Enhanced Common Public Radio Interface
An advanced version of the CPRI interface that supports higher data rates and lower latency, crucial for modern, high-capacity wireless networks.
EDGE
Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution
Refers to an evolution of GSM networks that provides improved data rates compared to the original GSM standard, paving the way for more robust mobile communication.
EFM OAM
Ethernet in the First Mile OAM
Refers to operations, administration, and management for Ethernet in the first mile, ensuring efficient network monitoring and troubleshooting close to the end user.
eMBB
Enhanced Mobile BroadBand
A 5G service category that focuses on delivering extremely high data rates for mobile broadband applications.
EMS
Element Management System
Management software that complies with ITU-T standards for overseeing one or more network elements. It allows for detailed control and management of each network element’s features, while a broader network management system handles communication between these elements.
