We all must have seen magic at our age when we were "kids".What was interesting on these magic shows was Suddenly we see few objects/items getting visually disappear.
Illusionists used to sort out the critical observable things to disappear.
Let's come back to Telecom & its Complexity ...
To reach from A point to B point via Network medium we need so many components to play around which indirectly and very efficiently increases the implementation cost .
CAPEX is high!!
And to maintain them huge lot of efforts and cost is involved so in short.
OPEX is also high !!
Now somewhere in the middle some Technical design comes and says we can reduce it to approx ~50% CAPEX cost & ~40% OPEX cost , What will be your reaction.
Looks Interesting!! So to me ...Let's Explore it like never before.
What is Complexity ?
And there are many more complex architecture with Hardware and Software propositions which makes Core costlier and difficult to Manage.
- NFV uses virtualized networking components to support an infrastructure totally independent of hardware.

Drifting towards 5G.. these architecture are going to be driving factors.
5G RAN is not only changed with names is also introduced with splits like
Gnodeb is created with CU- Control unit , DU- Distributed unit
But still the Question is how to make best use of these CU & DU structure.
Answer : Create it like never before .... Make them Virtual.
The Virtual DU & CU automatically gives split bearer functionality ease in implementation
- Less Cost in 5G with Opex & Capex
- Easy Architecture & design.
