5G and The mobile telephony market why the launch delay?
The mobile telephony market is very dense. So today it is not just given to an elite the chance to have a flagship product. We no longer count the type of smartphones or ranges that exist. With the democratization of telephones, demand is greater. To answer this question, manufacturers like Samsung, Huawei and Apple must rise to the occasion. It must be said that this telephony market has become the modern economy. So the competition started between the different players
The three most popular brands in the market are Samsung, Huawei and Apple. Between these three, it is now a question of who will have the best mobile at the cutting edge of technology and above all, accessible. But still, with the opening of smartphones to the world, there is also the phenomenon of overseas manufacturing that goes with it. Thus, regardless of the brand of origin of the flagship, the various parts of the latter can be assembled in another country.
China is the country that hosts the most smartphone manufacturers. And yes, the country of Xi Jinping is a major player in this market. China is in truth a favorable ground for the big names of the telephony. First of all, it is a question of cost. As you may know, Chinese employees do not have the same salary expectations as France or Spain for example. The issue of labor costs is thus beneficial for major foreign brands like Apple.
First, significantly higher flow rates. The current 4G in Morocco offers a speed of 1 Gbit / s, the 5G will allow this value to be multiplied by at least ten. Internet access will be much faster. The reaction time will drop, depending on the operator, from 25-35 milliseconds today to a few milliseconds. This will, for example, allow autonomous cars or drones to communicate with each other. In the industrial sector, machines can all be connected to the Internet, making better use of a network with extended capacities. There will also be decentralized clouds, with the new mobile networks being so powerful that they can be linked by air and no longer necessarily by optical fiber. We can also imagine that individuals will give up fixed internet access to be content with 5G.
Morocco is one of the most dynamic markets for the telecoms sector in Africa and the Middle East. Operators and users are always on the lookout for the latest technological innovations, which are a factor of competitiveness.
The introduction of 5G in Morocco is a matter of time. The market is buoyant and operators are interested in this technology, especially since it has been adopted by several countries with very surprising results. Its employability can be extended and used in different economic fields, both domestic and professional.
Some sectors need very important data flow and data exchange such as finance, offshoring, industry or audiovisual.
As a prelude to its launch, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) overhauled the legal system, in particular Law No. 121-12, amending and supplementing Law No. 24-96, which aims to facilitate the transition to 5G for operators and their customers and to avoid unfair competition practices. On the technical level, the regulator has successfully launched experimental tests indoors or outdoors.
This project is part of a vast development program for the sector by 2023. The three national telecom operators are also in the race and are actively preparing to choose the technological device that suits them. It is about optimizing their infrastructure and being ready once the ANRT launches the call for competition.
For their part, major global equipment manufacturers are actively preparing to position themselves in Morocco, which has significant development potential, especially as the fifth generation of mobile telephony is in demand for the high speed it generates, which can reach 100 times. that of 4 G.
In this context, the Chinese telecoms giant, Huawei, has since 2020 expressed its interest in offering its services and ensuring a presence in this area in Morocco. And this, in order to develop its activity at the continental level, since the Casablanca office covers all of North Africa.
During a visit by an official Moroccan delegation in January 2020 to China, Philippe Wang, executive vice-president of the North Africa region of the Chinese telecoms giant, underlined “the group's willingness to work with Morocco to make a leading center in the field of high technology at the service of the African continent ”.
Africa and the MENA region are also attracting interest from world-renowned equipment manufacturers, such as Sweden's Ericsson, which has strong ambitions there. After the signing of seven agreements for 5G in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and also in South Africa, the equipment manufacturer is currently targeting Morocco.
It is clear that the Moroccan telecom landscape is well prepared to welcome 5G, but the current situation marked by covid-19, which has generated an unprecedented economic crisis, is not favorable for such a launch of this technology. until the total disappearance of the COVID 19 virus therefore Who will win the first health business or the smartphone business or say 5G the fuel of future mobile 5G devices and machines blood or Big-Data globules circulate or say well the air that carries the clouds of Cloud-data in hand
Since March 2020 Consumers have become more and more careful about their spending and are often forced to postpone purchases deemed ostentatious. It is likely that 5G will be postponed until 2021, or even 2022.
Compatibility with 5G
? Samsung phones. The Korean firm has never hidden its ambitions. That of being a standard bearer of all new technologies. For the new year, the company is developing not only a foldable phone but also a 5G-capable device. The various speculations in the press are counting on a smartphone from the Samsung Galaxy S10 range which should be highlighted
? Huawei smartphones. The main competitor of Samsung, the Chinese firm has made a leap forward in the phone market with a second place in sales of the previous year. At MWC 2019, the company is expected to announce its new range of P30s as well as possibly a 5G smartphone. Huawei has already been working for some time on its own new generation mobile network with a brand new processor that should be 5G compatible.
? The next iPhones. The Cupertino company is never left out when it comes to new technologies. Apple also aims to offer devices compatible with the latest generation network. Thus, the iPhones should be very good performance 5G smartphones like the company usually offers. It will then be necessary to wait until September 2020 so that during its annual keynote
? Chinese smartphones Xiaomi, Oppo or OnePlus. While Huawei is one of the leaders when it comes to selling phones, the competition is no exception. Xiaomi for example is catching up with great strides in terms of new technologies. For their part, OnePlus and Oppo offer a 5G smartphone in the global mobile telephony market.
So the big question now How to market 5G Smartphones in Morocco? Should we change the track with specifications that respect the brand and quality of each 5G product Or are we going to keep the same 4G sales track?
