#59 A Sandbox for Telecom

#59 A Sandbox for Telecom

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is inviting feedback on its new draft rules for a Telecom Regulatory Sandbox. What is this sandbox? It’s a space that allows telecom service providers, tech developers, and innovators to test new products, services, and business models in a controlled environment.?

Under the draft rules, companies, research institutions, and Indian nationals can apply to set up a sandbox for up to 24 months (with a possible 12-month extension). In their application, they must include their testing plans, risk mitigation strategies, and exit strategies. A Governance Committee will oversee the sandbox's progress. The draft rules also say that approvals can be revoked for non-compliance or national security concerns.

Public comments are open till 27th December 2024. Explore the full draft and share your views by clicking the link here!
