But, good recommendations are drowned out in the cacophony of the internet. I have done some picking from my weekly browsing. Respectful of intellectual property rights, I dispense these in the spirit of "???????? ??????." The section is more than a passive list. It has an active commentary based on my 40 plus years as a surgeon, educator and healthcare administrator.
"Weekend warriors" - one or two workouts a week may be all you need to protect your brain
?????? Physical exercise is linked to improved brain health and a lower risk of dementia in older adults.
??????... The question of how much and how often remains unclear.
?????? Analysis of over 10,000 participants indicates those who exercise infrequently still benefit from improved cognitive outcomes. "Weekend warrior" activity patterns benefit mental health." Both “weekend warriors” and regular exercisers have a reduced risk of mild dementia compared to inactive people.
????... Promoting flexible exercise routines, focusing on total activity volume, could improve public health outcomes.
???????????????? || "... it’s now becoming increasingly clear that the benefits of exercising once or twice a week are much the same as exercising more often."

Swapping white for whole grains could transform your health
?????? The consumption of whole grains has declined dramatically over time. Many people today consume refined grains, such as white bread and sugary cereals, which lack the nutritional value of whole grains.
??????... While campaigns promote whole grains as nutritionally superior, many people hesitate due to unfamiliarity with their flavour and cooking methods. For many, refined grains have a flavour that they prefer.
?????? The Switch to Whole Grains campaign promotes awareness and offers resources to encourage people to try whole grain alternatives. There's evidence linking a 50g daily intake to reduced risks of Type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and cancer. Whole grains also contribute to sustainable agriculture by using fewer resources, improving soil quality, and offering drought-resistant crop options.
????... Practical steps and resources support switching to whole grains through simple swaps and new cooking techniques.
???????????????? || “Whole grains are one of the best ingredients to use in our daily diet.” but, “Dietary changes will only be lasting when they suit your palate and your lifestyle.”

Computer-based predictive modelling could be the key to beating antibiotic resistance
?????? The World Health Organization lists antimicrobial resistance as a top ten threat to global health, with nearly 5 million deaths attributed to bacterial antibiotic resistance in 2019.
??????...Current methods for studying resistance genes may miss significant mechanisms.
?????? By analysing genetic patterns across strains with machine learning, researchers can identify genes contributing to resistance and design specific inhibitors that target essential bacterial proteins.
????... Researchers could adapt this approach to other bacterial strains, supporting more effective and tailored antibiotic treatments. This method could extend the useful lifespan of existing antibiotics.
???????????????? || “Targeted inhibitors could help preserve the efficacy of existing antibiotics and reduce the spread of resistant strains.” ... “Our predictive approach could be adapted to other bacterial strains, allowing for more personalised treatment strategies.”
