A 53 year old woman with gestational diabetes gives birth to 2 beautiful twin daughters.

When was the last time you learnt from the experiences of others and cherished it? This story of a 53 year old mother is an embodiment of hope and inspiration for me. More than a case study, this example for me is the one that inspires and builds hope. I remember the whole incident as fresh as it happened yesterday. 

So, this patient came to me almost 7 years back with a history of failed conception. Yes, that’s right, she had conceived for the first time almost 16 years after her marriage, however unfortunately the female foetus couldn’t make through for the delivery and was born dead.

It was natural for them to lose hope and not try. However, at the age of 53, a miracle took birth & she conceived. However, the journey wasn’t so smooth, she had diabetes. And unfortunately, her diabetes was causing various complications. This time around too, she started losing hope and was startled. It’s around the same time, she started consulting me. It was one of the most unique & complicated cases I have personally handled. 

I took her case as a challenge. I knew that more than medicine & diet guidance, she also needed the right counselling and guidance. And then nothing could stop the miracle from happening, she was blessed with two beautiful twin girls. What makes this case so unique is the fact that being pregnant at that age is rare. Medically, most of women attain their menopause by 50.  This mother of two & a woman with history of gestational Diabetes is an exemplar of why Diabetes can never stop you, but you can do that to yourself.
