The 50th Post!
Thank you for taking a moment of your busy day to read my random and hopefully entertaining posts on LinkedIn. Today this post officially marks the publishing of my 50th story over the past 18 months – a really awesome milestone looking back.
So this is the half-way point in my journey and personal goal of creating 100 LinkedIn posts. At the 100th post milestone I will have enough short stories and awesome images for my super fun illustrated GT random-hut coffee-table book – which I plan to create using real ink, on paper, and give fun signed editions away to all my family and friends as a super cool Christmas Gift that year. Yes. I have a plan, and I am working on it like a Boss!
My real goal in all of this too is to have fun writing stories on LinkedIn, certainly taking time where I find the inspiration and writing about whatever happens to be the driving idea of the moment. If you’ll notice my stories are upbeat and promote a proverbial “go for it!” attitude - with a side order of inspirational mojo with each one. This is by design and me sticking to my nature. Each month I receive literally over 100 subscriptions to an eclectic mix of information and news. This allows the veracious reader in me to stay informed across a super-wide horizon of multi-media and points of interest - which helps me keep pace with this wacky and wonderful world. Inspiration from this mix is easy. Turning that inspiration into a new post every once in a while – well that just takes time.
I believe that the key to finding writing time is to make writing time in your life. A long time ago I stopped imagining that writing had to be like I was some great inspired writer on a beach, working on that best-selling novel. A sunset makes not a writer. The myth of having “time” to write in order to create will keep anyone from using the time they do have. Often writer’s block is no more than waiting for some special chunk of time to write, and then the pressure of; “OK, write now!” This makes writing like it's some big deal and therefore potentially difficult. Keeping the writing casual keeps it real easy.
If I ever need the inspiration to write, I can just stop what I am doing and listen to something awesome and timeless, like: “RUSHING” by Moby. – or better yet, take a 2 minute space station flight around the planet - listening to "Intro" by The xx - cruising over a continent every second. Imagine. :) Seeing a video like that makes me realize that our time here is very short indeed, and so all the more important to get on with it - whatever it is, and above all else have fun and make a difference.
Thank you, for taking time to read some of my wild posts along this awesome journey together. Knowing that some of you are enjoying these rants and randomly positive raves makes it all the more rewarding.
PS: If you want to be on the list for a limited signed edition of the GT random-house coffee-table book when published let me know. This first run will be awesome! Then 100 years from now the American Pickers great grand kids will say to your great grand kid – "Look at this GT original, from when they printed ink on paper way back in the day"
Onward and Upward ~
