How would you like to get a $50,000 annual pay raise before you get hired in a Federal government job?
My client did!
Wait, what?
Is that even possible?
Yes! Keep reading. ??
?
Just a few weeks ago, I was having a conversation with my new client, Krista, about her career situation. She is a music education teacher in the public school system and came to me for help in landing a federal job. (Kudos to her for 25 years of service—what a blessing she has been to her students!)
During that conversation, I educated her about how important it was that she apply to only right-fit positions. She didn’t know what a ‘right fit’ job for her would be because she didn’t know how her background would transfer to Federal government. She was new to the federal job search and found it to be overwhelming.
In general, 'right fit' can mean a number of things including what YOU want or need in a job, e.g., happiness, salary, location (work in office or work from anywhere), agency, job title, benefits, culture, mission, impact, boss, co-workers, and type of work, to name a few.
?
Right fit also means that you have to be qualified to perform the duties of the job. I mean, you’re not going to apply for a Podiatrist position unless you are a Podiatrist, right? That one is pretty easy.
But sometimes it’s not that easy when you aren’t familiar with how to translate your background. Some people just wing it and apply anyway then assume HR will figure out where to fit you in.?(Don’t do this…they won’t call you to ask questions. Instead, you have to make it easy for them to see that you are highly qualified!)
So the natural thing to do is to try to incorporate common thinking advice, but let me be real—common thinking isn’t going to get you anywhere. That’s what everyone else does.
When you know better, you can do better, right? ??
COMMON THINKING
All of these points are common thinking...she's one of thousands of my clients who have had this common thinking--and that's ok--but when you know better, you'll do better!
Do you relate to this common thinking?
Let's change that...to FORWARD THINKING!?
Check out the results of what happens when you know better and apply forward-thinking.
This is a screenshot of the email Krista received as the result of her FIRST application through USAJOBS.gov after joining our Six-Figure Federal Career Accelerator Program.
You read it right: “Eligible for the following position or positions: GS-0301-13!”
YES, a GS-13…NOT a GS 5.
That is a MINIMUM of a $50,000-$65,000 annual PAY RAISE before she’s even hired!
Most likely, it would have taken a minimum of SIX YEARS to reach the GS-13 level.
In those six years, she could have been making a minimum of $50,000-$65,000 more per year, not to mention step increases and other incentives. ?
$50,000 x 6 years = $300,000
$300,000 in what would have been lost income that now she is eligible to receive!
FORWARD-THINKING results in SUCCESS!
Krista's current scenario now after joining our Six-Figure Federal Career Accelerator program just a few weeks ago:
NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!
Are you in the right-fit job?
Are you satisfied with your current job and salary?
Ready for a new job and higher income?
What would it be like if you were less frustrated and more hopeful about the future?
Would you like to discover your dream job?
Would you like to discover the value of YOUR dream job?
