5000 "followers" but 500,000 views
You don't need numbers to get numbers - yeah pretty much, and before you continue, here's the proof :)
Not ridiculous numbers by any means but what the topic of concern is the number of people in my direct reach.
Content wins, hands down content wins - if you have the right message written at the right time, you will have something similar happen.
Long story short, i've been writing on linkedin for nearly 1 year and decided to take it on full steam about 3-6 months ago.
The initial engagement was slow, I was reaching out to people manually but then realised like any person trying to win:
How do I get people to me ?
Simple, I followed the people who started doing similar things about the same time and attained ridiculous success - names such as Manu Goswami, Thomas Ma and others certainly come to mind when this transition is thought of!
Anyway, back to the story - yes, half a million views in a span of 2 weeks with only 5000 "followers" - why the quotes because it feels weird, i'm not an influencer or celebrity.
So my learnings from this:
- Images, don't put them in the post - LN would literally be the first media platform I know that doesn't like images AS much - add them in the comments
- Same principle applies to links, any links that are not driving people to other linkedin posts or articles automatically don't perform as well, so try place the links in the comments section
- Tag people of influence, and don't just mass tag them, tag them with context of something they've written before - these people are humans as well with millions of others reaching out to them, what makes you special ? Well the fact that you actually read into them
- Get these influencers to interact, its ridiculous the inflow you'll get from a simple "like" from them
- Make articles work clicking into and reading into, helps alot!
- Be human and emotional, emotional or rather, non sugar coated posts get the most traction and are hailed to the top of the pyramid, everyone wants to hear the struggles because many experience them - they want to know that you're doing good even after that as an assurance that they'll be fine
I guess to TL;DR the two things i've learnt is this.
People remember you for one of two reasons:
Either you made them think or you made them smile.

7 年I will point out that for the average LinkedIn profile, having 5000 followers is a lot. Many don't have more that 1500. So you have scale on your side that most people don't. Secondly, LinkedIn is probably the only social media channel where your content can gain 'virality' on the platform based on merit. Individuals cannot pay-to-play with LinkedIn Publishing, which means meritorious content often succeeds without paid manipulation. Thirdly, LinkedIn's members are far more engaged than other platforms - it is not uncommon to see high views and reach because of how people use the platform - namely they choose to share content (even if they didn't read it) because it helps the rest of their network. The people who follow you tend to work in your sphere of influence or have an interest in your industry, therefore the content you produce tends to resonate better at scale and more organically on LinkedIn than, say your friends on FB who all have different interests on FB. All of these elements contribute to your success because you are using the platform well.
