?Adam was born and raised in Grandview Heights, Ohio–right where our Columbus office is located. He still resides in Grandview, which makes for a nice commute to work. After graduating high school, Adam briefly studied Fine Art at the University of Toledo and Ohio State. Unsatisfied with the college experience, he went to work for a prepress company as a delivery driver, and he quickly moved into new and exciting opportunities. Using this real-world educational experience, he developed the skills needed to work in an agency environment. His stellar output has been on display at four agencies over the past quarter-century, and we’re proud he’s now calling 500 home.?

?Adam was able to break away for a bit to answer the following Burning Questions:?

?500: How do you describe what you do for a living to family and friends??

Adam Hanscel: I’m really bad at this, and I’ve honestly been told as much! Sometimes, I go basic with it and tell people that I enhance the work of photographers. But that isn’t fair at all because we work with incredibly talented photographers. I’ll have to work on my job description skills and get back to you.?

500: What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on??

?AH: Being an effective leader and manager of personalities through increased communication.?

?500: What’s one hobby you’d love to get into??

?AH: Woodworking and carpentry. I love building my own stuff and have aspirations of building custom furniture and cabinets for my house.?

?500: Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work? Why??

?AH: My boss, Steve James. There is an art to viewing and scrutinizing images and color. Learning from him and seeing things through that lens has helped me excel in my position.?

?500: What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’ve ever worked on??

?AH: The launch of the inaugural season for the Columbus Blue Jackets. I grew up with friends who played hockey here in Columbus, and I developed a love for the game, so when Columbus was awarded a team, I was over the moon. To be a part of launching the team, seeing the jersey before it was ever revealed to the public, and interacting with the team personnel–that was just amazing.?

?500: 2021 was a tough year for everyone. On a positive note, what’s one of your favorite memories from the past year??

?AH: Going to Telluride, Colorado for my cousin’s wedding and seeing and spending time with family who I haven’t been able to be with much–if at all–for quite some time.?

?500: If you were the only human left on Earth, what would you do??

?AH: Find a really nice boat, sail around the world until I was bored with that, and then find a way to not be the only human left on Earth.?

?AH: You’re quite welcome!?

?We are stoked that Adam’s creativity continues to be sparked here at 500. Keep following us because next month we’ll heat things up again with a fantastic 500 teammate and another round of Burning Questions.?
