50 years on, this is the result ......
A fellow chef (among many others ) has recently complained on linkedin about the lack of professional skills in young cooks.
Here is the answer I send to him:
.
"I have been cooking professionally for 50 years.
.
Here is how my attitude towards the lack of skills in MOST, (not all) cooks developed:
(Me at 20 years old) - STEP ONE:
Wonder about the lack of skills of my fellow "professionals"
(Me at 25 years old) - STEP TWO:
"Get angry about the lack of skills of my fellow "professionals"
(Me at 30 years old) - STEP THREE:
"Trying to make a difference by pushing my fellow "professionals" into improving their skills and knowledge"
(Me at 55 years old) - STEP FOUR:
"Realising that they are grown-ups who are responsible for their own future"
(Me at 65 years old) - STEP FIVE:
"I've put in a ton of effort. Now - not my trouble anymore"
.
End of story :-)
.
Cheers !"
