50 Years of Commitment-Driven Momentum

Happy 2022! We’ve been envisioning this year and the 50th anniversary of Cummins Facility Services (CFS) as a point distant in the future for quite some time. And, just like that, it’s here. I am bursting with gratitude and pride that our tiny family operation has grown to such a huge family of employees, clients and communities.

As Peggy Wood put it best, “Commitment is the ignitor of momentum.” I want to thank every team member who’s been a part of this journey over the past 50 years for demonstrating a commitment to our clients that allows us to provide high-quality facility services, utilizing the best cleaning practices and technologies, delivered through a personalized relationship.

CFS began at my parent’s kitchen table in 1972. The business world, and the facility services world, was completely different. Remember the Jetson’s we used to watch on TV? Now, those once-comical concepts are real life! When CFS began, we were one operation in one city. Now? We’re in the second generation with an international operation, growing into multiple states across the country!

We’ve been growing in size with incredible velocity, and the momentum is about to explode into the innovations of our industry. The technologies have certainly changed since 1972, and we’re trailblazing ahead into territories that truly could have never been imagined when CFS began. I often say our limitations are only the ones we place on ourselves. I am proud to say that limits have never been, and never will be, part of the conversation at CFS. The sky is the limit!

Facility Genius, a company I founded in 2018, is our certified solutions expert staffed by industry, engineering, and technical personnel to proactively and responsibly improve a company’s efficiencies, environment and facility management processes. This endeavor was created based on the fascinating technologies tied to ‘smart’ buildings. We also have The Facility Data Standard Consortium (FDSC) for which I serve as chairwoman. This 501(c)(6) is dedicated to advancing global open standards for secure data transfer and integration in the facility ecosystem. We’re so excited for some amazing events and seminars this year that will further the conversation about technologies that are in the works. Who could have ever dreamed that the company started in my parents’ kitchen so many years ago would grow into one that is truly advancing the global impact of our industry!

It’s difficult to find the words to encompass this milestone, and I think the reason is that ’50 years’ often seems to represent a moment of pause in business. Truth be told, I’m struggling to stop and feel the gravity of where we are, because I’m incredibly energized and ecstatic about where we’re going. We have experienced tremendous growth and momentum over the past 50 years, and at this moment in time I can feel the mass in motion, ready to take us into the future. I am thrilled to see the work we do today positively impact our industry and our world tomorrow. Cheers to another 50 years ahead!
