50 years above the fold

Little did I know when I got my first second-hand camera back as a freshman in high school would I think I'd still be "above the fold" 50 years later but I've made it! This week marks my first 50 years of photojournalism and making cover photos for newspapers, magazines, books, calendars, and more!

As my photography mentor Al Weber once wrote in his insightful book "The Next Step", "You must be retired. You've found what you love to do..." These words by Al's stepfather paraphrased to Al when he was a teen about the same age I started my long journey into photography.

Here's to many more years of making it above the fold and encouraging the next generation to do the same!
