ARE 5.0 STUDY GUIDE FOR CE EXAM

After taking the CE exam and getting a pass on it I thought it would be beneficial for anyone who is looking at this exam to see my study material.

Francis Ching Building Construction Illustrated. Chapters 3 and 7.

Fundamentals of Building Construction Sixth Edition, Allen and Iano Chapters 2, 6, 13, 16, 19, and 20. I find that these sections are best to be read and outlined during your PJM test and then really read closely for the CE exam.

Architects Handbook, review the PJM chapters on project delivery methods to be sure your on top of them.

Ballast Study Guide, reviewing the contracts section, the project delivery section and the CE section

Black spectacles study site. Go ahead and sign up for it already. Yeah its 200 buck a month, but really the practice tests and video lectures are worth it. MAYBE SOMEONE WHO WORKS THERE CAN WORK ON THE PRACTICE EXAMS to have more of the details questions where you point to locate issues in details or wall sections. I have recently been doing the Hyperfine questions and as I prepare for my PPD PDD tests and I really recommend using those resources as well.

Schiff Hardin lectures. Be sure to review the contracts here. The lectures are long but they really are fascinating and you should have studied them for PJM and this would really be a recap for you.

Lastly get the contracts, A201, A101, B101 ( you should know these really well. ) Also know the A701, G701-705, G711, sets and how they get filled out when they get filled out etc. Get some experience with your company, or if your not employed right now, then look online regarding payouts, retainage and field reports and how these effect the job and relate to each other.
