BTW is it time for a visual branding makeover? Have to admit, if you're like me we invest so much time and energy making our clients look great that we often neglect ourselves.
I had the pleasure of doing a 2-day photo and video shoot with a guy I went to HS with, the talented Steve Janowicz.
Here are 10 Important Tips to ROCK your branding photo and video session and create a KILLER content library:
- Don't wait until the perfect time, when you lose 20 pounds, etc...just do it! The camera and his magic can work wonders.
- Prepare an agenda, and think about where/how you'll use them. Yes, plan for those cheesy "pointing" shots, holding up your product/future book (can be dropped in later), social media cover images and posts, email header, LinkedIn headshot, the works.
- Get permission in advance if you're required, and bring extra printed copies of your photo release forms if you'll include others in the shoot. Or, you can always beg for forgiveness later, but that can sometimes get messy.
- Plan your wardrobe changes to reflect your branding colors, client avatar AND your lifestyle.
- Shoot some "green screen" so you can later drop in images, copy, etc.
- Hire the hair and makeup artist to stay with you for the day, and bring along your products to freshen up throughout the day. You'll thank me later!
- Take some behind the scenes FB live, and pictures of the video shoot, etc.
- Bring plenty of water, snacks, and stay hydrated.
- Assume it all takes LONGER than you think, it often does.
- Bloopers are a riot...just have FUN!
I'm now in the habit of updating my personal branding photos every year so that we build a comprehensive library of images that we repurpose as needed. It's another key facet of prudent business development:
"Do once, use many."
