Who is a man, and Who is a Woman? Are we not one?
Yes, indeed. Gender equality is no longer a myth, rather, it's high time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. The soul has no gender, and so do I, rather, we all.
A sustainable and successful work environment demands a plethora of skills and competencies, and certainly that's not achievable from any one group of people having a particular arrangement of chromosomes. Men tend to be decisive, confident and bold while taking risks, whereas, women tend to be protective, inclusive, detail-oriented and aware. Henceforth, for a better tomorrow, what is really needed is to provide the full array of expertise to all people, and not just some.
We all believe that teamwork is the heart of great achievement. True teamwork means the team members are open to share ideas, help one another, complement each other and be receptive to feedback. If that is so, then diverse teams significantly contribute more towards productivity. To achieve such a harmonious experience, all that we need is to have a general awareness on gender intelligence. To put it simple, we need to appreciate our differences and look forward towards ways of complementing them while being careful to our own individuality; because one can only make a difference, but together we can rock the world. The biggest example for this is my company, SAP Labs India.
SAP Labs India is a hotspot of diversity and inclusiveness. The company values men and women in equality endowed with the same dignity. There are equal opportunities, appreciation and celebration for both the sex, because what matters here is the talent, the abilities, the versatility and the prowess. We have a lot of work to do and we get there by working together as our strength lies in the differences and not in the sameness. We make gender equality a lived reality, a cherished virtue and a promising opportunity for one and all.
On the advent of International Men's Day 2017, I look forward to resolve the problem with gender that prescribes how we should be, rather than recognizing how we are.
