And while you are at it, consider subscribing to "Unofficial, Unauthorized History of Learning Games" on?YouTube. It's a slightly irreverent look at the history of famous learning games and the ideas we can steal from those games for the design and deployment of our own learning games.
Prediction
I am not predicting the end of AI, far from it, however, like many tools and concepts, the existing tools within the field of L&D will have AI functionality built right in. AI will become part of our common toolkit. I thought it might take a few years for the process to happen but it's already happening.
7Taps Course
Today I received a message inviting me to try out a sneak peak of the AI tool within the microlearning tool 7Taps. I am not an affiliate and don't have any monetary skin in the game but the concept has been quickly incorporated into the tool.
Here is a course I created with AI on the topic of "Learning Games". I used the prompt "Learning Games" within 7Taps.
Observations
Here are my thoughts on the AI generated microlearning.

Conclusion
What does this all mean? This early experiment indicates to me that every major tool and many minor tools within our field will start integrating AI into the main tool kit. It will be another tool in Photoshop or another options in Storyline or Rise or iSpring. Or branching options will be completed initially in Branchtrack with AI. And soon PowerPoint will be creating entire presentations complete with images and branching. We won't have to go outside of our tools and find the right AI tool, it will be built right in.
It reminds me of early on when we had to run a separate program to "package" a course for a LMS with a SCORM wrapper. Now, you simply press a button and just publish the course in the format you need.
Same with a course that, long ago, we created using several tools such as HTML, photo editing software, quizzing software, audio software, etc. Now all those capabilities are in a single tool.
AI is all the rage now but soon it will be a distant memory and many of us will have adapted to using the technology to create awesome instruction without even giving AI a second thought.
What do you think?

1 年Yes, that`s the developement in AI. Every Tool I use now seems to implement some AI-Functionality. And it is a matter of time, until our Author-Tools will have some text-generating, Picture-generating AI modules on board. This will speed up the AI Process a lot; or we will have a new landscape in a few years and ID will look completely differently. Perhaps we will use AI Bots as part of the learning design, when everyone is used to using AI as a way to interact with computers...

1 年I think that, "long ago, we created courses using several tools such as HTML, photo editing software, quizzing software, audio software, etc." and long ago that tools, we created courses with graphic designers, html and javascript programmers, video editors and many others persons with a job. Now. all those capabilities are in a single tool. And tomorrow, learning experience designer and a learning game designer will be replaced by an AI tool.
