Brittany,
So glad you reached out. I am almost always interested in meeting new people doing great work. Really glad you had mentioned why you stepped back from LinkedIn. I think most people just sign up and walk away, really glad you reengaged.
So I am "on" Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, and Quora. For me, they each have a different purpose by tie into a couple of basic, larger goals. Let's focus on Linkedin for a minute;
- it's free :)
- It is permission marketing at its finest. People look at what they want to look at
- if done "correctly" it is a wonderful personal branding/advertising tool. Maybe only a third-party endorsement is more powerful
- The overriding goal for me, well there are a few,
1. Help as many people as I can
2. Connect as many people that I know with other people I know
3. Create situations where people want to buy from me as well as people I know
Think about it, all of us are our own company. Most personal pages for Realtors are boring, basic, cookie-cutter type things. Also, remember, most people work with you not the company you work for so relying on any company is a little scary.
So what do I think a Realtor can do on/with Linkedin?
1. Keep in touch with every human you have ever met. One of my goals. Stemmed from a few things, one of which is this book and this *A Harvey Mckay book and an Inc article, but I do not remember what 3/10/21*
2. Actively share interesting business and Real Estate themed things that you find interesting. Yes, I think sharing a listing is cool but if you don't include other stuff you will quickly fade away.
3. Having people endorse you or write reviews is a nice touch.
I find that 5-10 minutes a day is solid for most people. Some days I spend 20 but I spend some time every day and it pays off. Lots of people regularly ask if LinkedIn produces sales and the easy answer for me is yes. But it is way bigger than producing the next sale/listing this can keep it so people want to work with you and want to share you.
Hope this helps. Please keep in touch.
