5 year workiversary: Maarten de Vreugd

It's been 5 years since this legend decided to grace us with his presence for 40 hours a week. Not only is he an amazing colleague with a great sense of humour, he is also a beacon of tranquillity. Come hell or high water, nothing can ever faze this man.

His name is Maarten de Vreugd, a local who saw an advert in a local newspaper late 2018 for a job at Freightways. Being dissatisfied with his current warehouse job and wanting to work closer to home he decided to send over his resumé. Quickly after he started his job at Freightways which involved picking orders, preparing pallet shipments and loading/unloading trucks. Within a few years he was given a permanent contract and developed himself into a skilled and knowledgeable expedition worker and team leader, being given two promotions in quick succession. Those three things he still considers the highlights of his Freightways career, besides the company parties and getaways.

When asked what he likes most about working at Freightways he mentions the variety of the work, fun co-workers and the overall relaxed atmosphere within the company. Or in his words (he is known for his brevity): "It's just work I enjoy doing".

When asked about the future and how he sees his further career development at Freightways he sort of shrugs the question off of his shoulders. "I'm not too concerned about the future and don't think much about it. I am happy where I'm at right now and how things are going. That's good enough for me".

Final question: "When are you going to cut off that mullet of yours"

Maarten: "Never, unless I go bald maybe".
