5 Ways You Can Prepare for National Work Zone Awareness Week

The impact of distracted driving is increasingly being felt in the road construction industry as work zone incursions become more prevalent. To raise awareness, NAPA developed the WatchForUs campaign, and is participating in Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April and National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) from April 26-30.

As more companies and people participate in the campaign, more drivers will be exposed to the message that they need to pay attention while driving in our work zones. Here are five things you and your company can do right now to spread the message and prepare for NWZAW.

1.   Download the newly updated toolkit from the WatchFor.Us site. The toolkit contains sample social media posts and other resources that help spread awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.

2.   Get WatchForUs bumper stickers and hard hat decals and place them on your vehicles, equipment, and hard hats.

3.   Update your Facebook profile with the WatchForUs frame. Directions available in the resource toolkit.

4.   Plan your Work Zone Training Day (April 26) activities to emphasize the importance to your paving crews of being alert in the work zone. NAPA is putting together a toolkit for this day. Watch for more details later.

5.   If you are a NAPA member, check out our WatchForUs Giveaway contest and assign an employee as a WatchForUs ambassador.

Together we can educate the public to remain vigilant while traveling through road construction work zones. Let us spread the #WatchForUs message and reduce distracted driving!
