5 ways a writing habit can boost your business

5 ways a writing habit can boost your business

Writing a book requires sitting down and writing words.

OK, it also requires a plan, an idea how it fits into your business, an idea of who you’re going to sell it to and knowledge of how to bring it all together but those bits – they’re strategy. And I can help you with that too (just send me a message).

The bits that are the hardest for the author are writing the first draft (and then editing so you can write the second draft. After that, it’s much less time consuming).

So, it makes sense to have habit in place where you sit down to write in place before you even think about writing a book.

Imagine showing up to run a marathon without training.

Cultivating a writing habit is like training for writing that book you’ve always dreamed of – and if you are writing blogs, newsletters, social media posts – well you can be making money along the way too.

This is why I’m so passionate about holding space for people to write. I want to see everyone who has a dream of writing a book actually write and publish it. All the bits that get in the way – well remove the idea that you can’t make time for it by training for writing a book by writing every week!

1. When you write every week you actually write. In the sessions people are writing posts for Instagram, preparing for scripts for podcasts, writing and posting fanfic, writing newsletters, free writing for their mental health, writing for clients, writing sales copy, writing blogs…

2. You get to write in community. So there’s someone (me ?) who cares if you write each week or not. We have some banter in the chat box and I drop in like a DJ every half hour to check on you.

3. You can write pretending everyone else on the call is going to read what you are writing and that brings some magic to your words. How often do you write wondering who is going to read your words and not tapping into your ideal reader/client? And you can post your words into our Facebook group after the call for all of us to actually read it!

4. You can settle your mind. Say you show up and life is crazy. Taking some time to ground yourself, brain dump, and organise your thoughts can make you even more productive out of the sessions.

5. You’re in training to write your book. ALL of my successful author clients had a writing habit already. They weren’t trying to make a habit and write 50,000ish words at the same time. They already had a habit and switched what they were writing when they sat down to write to their book. A writing habit is THE MOST POWERFUL gift you can give yourself if you want to write a book in the future.
