5 Ways to Use AI (ChatGPT) Mindfully for the Benefit of All

5 Ways to Use AI (ChatGPT) Mindfully for the Benefit of All

Ever wonder how you can help more people, grow your business, improve your health, or save time on administrative or marketing tasks?

ChatGPT and other AI (artificial intelligence) tools can help!

Yet with the rise of the popularity of AI, many in the mindfulness and conscious business communities are asking the same question:

How do we ensure that AI tools (such as ChatGPT) are used for good? So they don't take away from our deepest human connection, our heart-centered expression, imagination, or conscious ability to create?

I believe that a responsible, kind, and compassionate use of AI starts with us. Ultimately, it's our state of being that determines whether we use any tool for good or not.

When we come from a space of wanting to be of service, it's much easier to intuitively use AI to accomplish things that help us AND others.

So here are a few tips to help you use AI - ChatGPT specifically - mindfully so you receive helpful output AND so you feel good about using this tool for good.

1. Set a clear intention for your mindful chat

Before asking ChatGPT a question, shift your focus to the people you want to help. Have a clear intention for what you want to get out of this conversation. What's the final outcome you wish for yourself and others?

How will you be able to use the answer ChatGPT gives you to accomplish your intention of sharing more wisdom or value with others?

2. Be aware of biases

When you input questions into ChatGPT, be aware of any biases that might unconsciously be framed into your questions. Are you seeking to confirm or negate a certain point of view? Be mindful that the way you phrase a question could affect the way ChatGPT answers it. "Garbage in = garbage out" is true in this instance...if you input a question that includes a bias, you might also be getting a biased answer.

3. Question everything

When you get an answer from ChatGPT, don’t just take it as the truth. ChatGPT has many limitations, including limited knowledge of the world and events after 2021 (as it discloses on the main page). That's why it's important to question and fact-check the answers you get.

It's also a good idea to use your human intuition when using ChatGPT output...does the answer feel right? Does it make sense? Would following these ideas or instructions help others? Is this answer in line with your values? If not, seek answers elsewhere, including consulting your own inner wisdom.

4. Expand on your own wisdom

ChatGPT is great for generating ideas, especially when it comes to your marketing and creating content such as blogs, articles, or social posts. Yet nothing ever beats sharing your insights and wisdom with the world.

Add your unique flavor, your stories, and your perspective to the content that ChatGPT generates. Allow it to help you tap into the wisdom you already have within.

5. Don't replace human decision-making

While ChatGPT can provide valuable insights and assistance, it should not replace human decision-making entirely. Use the answers you get from ChatGPT to support and augment human decision-making, rather than relying on it to make decisions on its own.

Allow its objectivity to help you overcome procrastination and perfectionism, but don't let ChatGPT replace your innate human wisdom and intelligence.

Practice mindfulness & the human values you hold dear

The biggest risk with AI's impact on humanity?

Not practicing the human skills and characteristics that we hold so dear...love, connection, understanding, compassion, and the beauty of learning, growing, and expanding beyond our comfort zones.

Just because AI and ChatGPT can make our lives easier, it doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to be our best selves. We still need to intentionally practice expressing the human values we hold so near and dear to our hearts. And that takes conscious choice, willingness, and love for ourselves and others.

Because of AI and ChatGPT, it's more important than ever to express our thoughts, values, and unique insights clearly and consistently – to speak out, to verbalize what's within us and bring it out into the world. To show up. As our true, authentic, perfectly imperfect human selves.

Because in the end, ChatGPT can NEVER replace you, your presence, the way you speak with people, the way you perceive the world, the way you express yourself.

The opportunity with AI and ChatGPT lies in us deciding to use it consciously, to infuse our own humanity into it, to be the change, to be the role model of what it looks like to use technology with heart, with love.

Just like business, money, or marketing – this is a tool that can be used for good if we have a clear intention, if we are aware of the risks inherent in using the tool, and if we take the steps to mitigate those risks.

Super important. I have found it very good for helping in many ways, but finding research to support it's conclusions or assertions is not one of them.
