Key Takeaways From Our Live Gen AI Session
SS&C Blue Prism and AWS explored generative AI and its influence on the future of automation in our LinkedIn live event. The speakers discussed how gen AI complements and impacts intelligent automation (IA), and how SS&C Blue Prism and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are collaborating to integrate these two technologies to streamline complex processes and decision-making.?
Here are the five top tips and best practices for organizations looking to implement generative AI into their automation program:
1. Start with clear use cases aligned with business goals
Work backward from the outcomes you’re trying to drive and develop a use case framework based on your business goals. Kavitha Chennupati , senior director of product at SS&C Blue Prism, says it’s important to prioritize which idea you want to invest in by considering cost and resources. This helps ensure that your generative AI and automation initiatives are purposeful, aligned with your strategy and focused.
That brings us to our second tip: calculate your return on investment (ROI).
2. Calculate your ROI
Lou Bachenheimer, PhD , CTO of Americas at SS&C Blue Prism explains the importance of using an ROI calculator tool to give you the right data to make decisions on. Once you know your ROI, you’ll be able to better prioritize where to implement generative AI within your automation.
3. Prioritize and tackle one at a time
The idea with the best ROI might not be the easiest to achieve, so start by looking for quick wins to prove the program works. This will gain you executive buy-in and strengthen any future use cases you conceive of.

Chennupati explains, “Don’t just look for the ideas which are in the top bracket of, ‘oh, this gives me three million in savings’… Maybe there is that humble 500 thousand savings that something can give [and] can make a huge difference to the customer experience.” Even small incremental adjustments can create meaningful change over time.
4. Crowdsource ideas
Kalpana Mahesh , head of AI/ML GTM at AWS, talks about the importance of crowdsourcing ideas from across your business. “There’s so much excitement and energy around generative AI that everybody in the organization has a point of view on this topic. You want to see how you can harness these ideas,” says Mahesh.
Mahesh suggests setting up a hackathon to get everyone involved. You’ll come up with great new ideas you haven’t thought of and generate more enthusiasm about generative AI and intelligent automation by working together with your people.
5. Address the ethical concerns of gen AI
Finally, ensure your AI models are trained on high-quality data. Gen AI comes with risks of bias and misinformation, so it’s important to curate a good dataset. When considering generative AI’s impact on tomorrow’s workforce and society at large, consider the following:
·?????? Shift your focus from repetitive tasks to creative problem-solving.
·?????? Augment human roles with AI-generated insights.
·?????? Promote employee upskilling for value-added tasks.
·?????? Develop a responsible AI framework.
