5 Ways to Supercharge Your Productivity as a Chief of Staff with Microsoft Copilot
As a Chief of Staff to a global executive, my day is filled with a variety of tasks that require my attention. From managing schedules to attending meetings, I need to be on top of everything to ensure that the leader I support is able to focus on his core responsibilities.
Earlier this week, I boarded a flight to India for the start of a 3-week business trip that will consist of over 75 meetings across India, New Zealand, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand. This involves a lot of time in the air and very little sleep. Imagine my excitement when Copilot was launched internally to my organization at Microsoft just in time for this international business trip!
Let me just say, wow, this is a GAME CHANGER!
Without further ado, I present to you the top 5 ways I have used Copilot this week to save time and increase my productivity while on the road and operating 12 hours outside of my normal time zone (jetlag anyone?).
1.????? Take meeting notes and quickly summarize key points, asks, and follow-up items: Copilot has helped me take notes during meetings, summarize key points, asks, and follow-up items. This has saved me so much time this week, provided much better notes than I ever would have been able to capture and as allowed me to focus much more on the conversations. That being said, there were moments this week when I found my mind wandering in meetings. In these moments, to bring myself back, I prompted Copilot to do a recap of key points I missed which helped me to refocus.

2.????? Create professional and succinct follow-up notes from important meetings and events: Copilot has assisted me in drafting professional follow-up notes for meetings using my tone and style.
3.????? Remind me of the most important actions I have for the day: Copilot has helped remind me of the most important actions I had each day ensuring I did not forget any key follow ups or to do's.
4.????? Distill large volumes of information in Teams chats: Operating 12 hours outside of my normal time zone and supporting a global team means that I wake up each morning to a slew of Teams chats. This week Copilot has helped me distill large volumes of information in Teams chats that I did not have the time to read through. It provided me quick summaries of the key points discussed and decisions made.
5.????? Quickly read through emails and summarize urgent asks and important emails that need your attention: I average over 200 emails per day and it is important to me that I get back to people in a timely manner. When I travel, it is very challenging to find the time to read through each email each day, so this week I have experimented with asking Copilot to summarize the most important items in my inbox and flag anything urgent that had come through.
These ideas above are really just the tip of the iceberg of what is possible with Copilot. I can’t wait to share more ideas as I explore this amazing technology further. Give it a try and see how it can transform your workday! What is your favorite Copilot tip?
