I love to hop on the swing set at playgrounds even as a 48 year old! But I do not like swinging through moods all day long! Here are 5 ways I keep my moods in check!
1 - Time Restricted Eating - AKA Intermittent Fasting, I choose my eating window and keep it the same for most days. I typically eat around 11:00/12:00 each afternoon and then try to stop eating by 7:00/8:00 PM. Time restricted eating helps to reduce the highs and lows of blood sugar. If your window is big right now, start by shaving off 30 mins in the beginning and the end! And each week or month keep adjusting! Do what works for you!?
2. Eating quality foods with a mix of veggies, proteins and a few starchy veggie/carbs. Here is the thing, I personally do not measure my food or count my calories, but I am AWARE of what I am choosing to eat. That first meal of my day, around lunch time is superpowered, typically with spinach and sprouts, and then I will add in either a wrap, or sweet potato, maybe a black bean burger, some beans, or chicken breast. If I want to, I will have some dark chocolate to finish up the meal! Because I am hungry and ready to eat, it feels so good to eat that first meal of the day knowing I am fueling my body with good nutrients! This again helps with blood sugar highs and lows which cause the mood dips!
3. Keep a standard bedtime and wake up time! Seriously, you shouldn’t be scrolling in bed with the phone in your hand and fall asleep! Just like when your mom told you it was bed time - you went to bed - lights out! If you struggle with falling asleep - try a bed time mediation. DM for some of my favorites! And also try to keep your morning wake up time the same if possible and wake up on the FIRST alarm, Believe me, I used to set a few alarms with about 5 minutes in between thinking that would help me get up. The best way - set one alarm and get your booty up!!!! Having this set bed time will help you be better rested and reduce mood swings due to tiredness!

4. Stress less - hahahah! Well I know that is easier said than done! Here are some ways to stress less, create a game plan in your life. Oh wait - I wrote a book about that called "girl with a game plan: from benchwarmer to superstar of your life in 8 weeks." Creating a clear schedule for your daily life will help with overwhelm. I also love to create daily to dos so I can cross them out as I complete them as it helps me to feel accomplished; even with the small mundane things I need to do. Give yourself grace with your schedule and to dos. Say No to the things that come up that will send you over the edge. Your life, your time, be kind to yourself and how you manage your time.
5. Move More! Yes, move your body! Stop making excuses for why you don’t have time, and simply fit in more movement. Look at your wakeup time - could you bump it up by 15 minutes and do a brisk walk around your neighborhood or go use that treadmill that is full of clothes? Moving to start your day or working it in throughout your day will help to alleviate stress, it releases endorphins that make you feel good! And your heart and skeletal muscles will also be happy too!?
These are 5 simple ways to begin to reduce those mood swings. I challenge you to pick one and start integrating it into your daily life today! Have a beautiful day and remember you are a Superstar - so shine your love and light wherever you go today!
