5 Ways to Stop Being Overwhelmed
There is a lot happening in the world right now. Being overwhelmed is a common feeling for most of us. There’s probably always going to be a lot of stuff going on so instead of waiting for things to calm down we just need to getter better at dealing with the craziness.
Breathe
The breath is the first thing to change whether you're excited, anxious, fearful, or sad. The quickest way to change your body state is by taking six deep breaths. Breathe in through the nose as deep as you can, and then you exhale as if you're exhaling through a straw.
By intentionally breathing, we can be in control of the state we are in and switching it to a different state.
I have found that this is also a good time to think of something that you are grateful for to help switch your state. It doesn’t have to be something big and amazing just a small little thing will do. When you are overwhelmed, your emotions are high and when your emotions are high, your logic is low. By thinking of something you are grateful for, you begin to calm down and logic begins to come back.?
Write it down
Get everything out of your head. Everything that is stressing you out, all your thoughts and feelings. Writing it down, allows the mind to release it. Once they are written down, you begin to see them from a different perspective.?
Identify your next best action
Usually when you are overwhelmed you are thinking about 46 different actions that need to be taken between now and the next two months. You know they can’t all be done today and you know that it is going to take some energy to do all of these things. Only one thing at a time can be done so identify the most important task and begin with that.?

Take action
Now that you’ve got some movement ride that momentum and take action on the first thing you identified in number 3.?
You are not going to get all of them done right now but one by one you will get them done.
Stop spreading yourself too thin. Do one thing at a time and bring all of your brain power to that one thing instead of trying to do ten things at once.?
