When we set out on a new journey, there are many things beyond our control. The controllables are however where the consistency shows. Our attitude when the going is tough is what determines how consistent we stay on the journey. As I look back on the year 2023, there are moments of ups and downs. Moments that motivated me and moments that made me pause. Met some amazing people in this beautiful journey called LIFE who taught me why it is important to stay consistent. There are many reasons to smile and cheer those moments as they gave me lessons to keep learning from.? Most of them are successful and one factor that invariably pushed them to achieve it was their consistency.
“Success isn’t always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.” These words of Dwayne Johnson define the power of consistency very powerfully.?
Starting something is the easiest thing to do. Staying on the path the toughest. Little steps every day is where the challenge lies. When we set out on a journey, we do not know what the challenges can be. The biggest challenge however is to keep the journey on till you reach your destination. It is about those small movements you take. The choices you make.
Here are 5 practical ways to stay consistent.
?1)Understand your WHY:
There are many a time challenges that you take up by choice. ?Look at the purpose. What is it that you are setting out to achieve? Clarity in that can help you in the hurdles that you will face in the journey to reach there. The Motivation when Intrinsic helps you to push your limitations. The why always gives you reasons to push yourself.
“People Don’t buy what you do; they buy WHY you do it.” Simon Sinek
2)Start with small steps:
There is nothing called the perfect moment. When I have this… when I do this … When the situation is… It is important to remember that there are no perfect people or tasks. The perfect moment is the moment you begin. NOW. Perfection is by itself a myth. It is important to let go and start with a positive intent. It is the small steps that are required to achieve the biggest goal.
"The Secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one."Mark Twain
3)Write down a specific schedule:
Whatever you plan mentally becomes a reality only when it is written down in words. Write down specifically when you will be doing a task you are setting aside time for. Try as much as possible to not break the habit. Missing a day of the new habit can be an accident but missing two days at a stretch can become a habit. ?Remember to write what is practically doable initially, so that you will see the purpose behind doing it regularly.
“Write it down. Written goals have a way of transforming wishes into wants; cant's into cans; dreams into plans; and plans into reality. Don't just think it - ink it!” ?Michael Korda

?4)Take time off:
This is important to recharge. Work around what you want to do but also work on your recharge. Like everything around, make time for yourself. It is important to find your full potential. Doing something different or doing nothing sometimes is what we need to break a routine of mediocrity.
“In this game, everyone needs a break to refuel, recharge, and jump back in full throttle.” ?Helen Edwards, author?
5)Celebrate small victories:
This is so important to help bring out the best in you all the time. When every milestone is celebrated, the next one becomes more visible and the motivation to achieve it is possible. These celebrations are our internal markers to take us to the next level of achievement.
“Small daily-seemingly insignificant- improvements and innovations lead to staggering achievements over time.” Robin S Sharma
What are some of the steps that work for you? Would love to know.

1 年Agree Rashmi starting is easy, staying on the path is the hard part. Another way I like to stay consistent is to having a Revival Plan in place before kickstarting a journey. We all know life happens and our best laid plans could get tossed, so have a plan to get back on track gives me confidence to get back to consistency as soon as life circumstances permit :)
