Another Friday Fast 5 coming your way.?
Recently I’ve seen a lot of business owners mentioning that it is impossible to get staff.
Whether they can’t find the right people, or just no one applies.?
That’s what got me thinking about the first impression you give to potential candidates. Particularly if you are recruiting on LinkedIn. That’s why I’ve got 5 tips below to help your profile do the heavy lifting for you, so that you’ll have candidates begging to work for you.?
- First impressions are everything. Have you updated your profile picture recently? Does it even look like you anymore? The first thing you want to ensure is that your profile picture looks like you. A good headshot from the waist up with you looking at the camera is the best way to go.This is also something that is pretty easy to roll out across your whole management team to have the company looking great!
- Tell your story. Your bio on LinkedIn shouldn’t just be a summary of the work you’ve done (that’s what the work history is for beneath it). Your bio should be telling you and your company's story, the greater why that drives you. Make it exciting, make it personal, make it connect with your team and the vision you have for growth. Because people no longer want to apply for jobs that they can’t see themselves growing with.
- Gather testimonials. Just like you would if you were using socials to attract clients you can do the same with your team. For every team member who either moves into a new position or decides to move onto a new endeavour ask them for a recommendation on LinkedIn. It helps show future candidates why you are great to work for.?
- Don’t be afraid to headhunt. If you know exactly the type of person you are after, don’t be afraid to seek them out and chat over LinkedIn first. The best talent is highly sought after and won’t necessarily come to you because they aren’t actively looking for offers.?
- Write job ads not a list of demands. You know exactly what you want in the person you want to hire, so you put that in the job ad right? NO! What this ends up looking like is a list of demands. It’s one-sided and only talks about what the company needs, while in reality people are most drawn to the opportunities that they can see benefiting them. Get inside the head of your ideal candidate, what about this job would make their life easier, more rewarding, or how would it help their career? Reframing your job ads this way will help you get applicants in no time!
