It's important to not only give yourself credit for your wins, but to stop and celebrate them! Big or small, we encourage our community members to take any opportunity to share their accomplishments. That’s why we share wins from our community every week in our newsletter and on social media. Read on to learn some reasons that celebrating your success is important to both your overall personal and professional growth.
1. Stay Focused
Stopping to celebrate your victories keeps you focused on the bigger picture and motivated to push forward. Doing so formally marks that goal as met so you can thoughtfully move on to the next. If you continually focus only on goals not yet achieved, you may start to feel overwhelmed and forget why you’re on the path you’re currently moving through.
2. Practice Balance
No matter how passionate you are about your goals, all work and no play can quickly lead to burnout, which can be hard to recover from. You may have been in a job where your supervisor was constantly focusing on criticism and you didn’t feel as though your contributions were appreciated.?
If so, you know how quickly that can make you feel small, insignificant, or undervalued. The truth is, we can be our own worst judges. We often do the same things to ourselves through self-criticism and not giving ourselves credit due for all the things we are doing well, or putting effort into.
The more you practice grace with yourself, the less you judge yourself for any perceived shortcomings. Remembering that life is full of roadblocks and wins gives you the perspective to practice patience with yourself.
3. Boost Your Confidence
Constantly focusing only on unmet goals and not giving yourself adequate credit can throw off your confidence. As women and non-binary folks, we have been taught not to celebrate ourselves. We have been told to remain small and humble while we may often see our male counter-parts being held to different standards.?

Sometimes it can feel as though you are practicing humility while you may be doing yourself a disservice. It’s important to remember that you deserve to not only be celebrated but to give yourself permission to celebrate your own success. While positive feedback from others can help you remain confident and motivated, sustainable confidence comes from within yourself.
4. Inspire others
Witnessing peers accomplish goals inspires others to go after their own and to also shout out their own accomplishments. We often discuss how giving yourself permission to speak does the same for others. Sometimes, we don’t realize who we may be inspiring by speaking up. That includes sharing your goals and your wins!
Above, we mentioned keeping ourselves small, and part of advocating for change is to open up and inspire others to do the same. You have a multiplying effect. If you only inspire one other person, you've made a huge impact on your community and that person may go on to inspire others.
5. Create Connection
Sharing your success with your community fosters connection. Every step of your journey is important. We rely on our community to help us grow through practice and with feedback. We share opportunities and struggles with each other. So of course, we want to celebrate success with each other as well.
When you open up and share both the good and the challenges, you create authentic bonds with others. Whatever your path, community is an important piece of your support system. They help you achieve your goals and help others to do the same.
