With just over 2 months left in 2022 the silly season is approaching.?
Meaning that stress levels can be on the rise with stress over deadlines, money, and family dynamics coming into play.
That’s why this year I decided to get a handle on the season? early to make sure that my holiday season was full of flow, family and relaxation rather than mental overwhelm.?
- Plan Gifts In Advance. Just because it’s not December does not mean it is too early to start your gift buying. Spreading out your spending makes it easier to budget and gives you enough time to order things that need to be shipped from overseas without having to splurge on express shipping or panic buying. The first step would be to write a list of all the people you need to buy gifts for and start ticking off 1-2 people per week.?
- Get Your Priorities Sorted. If you still have a long to-do list before the end of the year, take a step back and think about what’s achievable in the next 2 months. If you’re having a hard time deciding exactly what you should do, prioritize the list from what is most important to least important and focus only on the top 3 projects on the list.?
- Unblock. Sometimes half the stress and worry we feel around the holidays is a story we’ve made in our head and we subconsciously help create through our attitude towards others. The best way to take the stress out of the holidays is this holiday specific meditation I created to help you unblock the stress and re-write the script. You can grab the meditation HERE.?
- Roster Time Off. If you are able to give yourself even a day or two leeway across the holidays it will be better than trying to work through everything while balancing all the extra family and social expectations. If you feel guilty or nervous about taking time off as a business leader I can assure you that your business will not go up in flames if you step away for a week or two.?
- Enjoy. Most important, is to be present in the moment and enjoy spending time with friends and loved ones without deadlines looming over the top of you as everything slows down for a week or two. The reason most people feel more burnt out after the holidays is they jam their schedule with all the things they think they “should” be doing. Give yourself the permission to do what feels good and what is going to leave you feeling refreshed on January 1st.?
What tips and tricks do you have for staying in flow across the holidays? Let me know!
