5 Ways to Reduce The Bounce Rate on Your Articles

Ralph Waldo Emerson said,?“All the great speakers were bad at first.”

Writing is something similar. You begin by writing poorly. With tons of grammatical mistakes, errors in the hook (opening), and unable to pour words smoothly on paper. But as you grow old as a writer, you learn how to craft content that engages people.

You may be struggling as a writer. Or, people get bored while reading your content. So, consider this blog your guide to creating content that people will love reading.

For those who don’t know what bounce rate is, here goes, as per?backlinko ,

Bounce Rate is defined as the percentage of visitors that leave a webpage without taking an action, such as clicking on a link, filling out a form, or making a purchase.

If the content is boring, the reader will not stick to it. Let’s look at some of the tips that’ll help you create engaging content for your readers.

1. Pick a catchy headline

80% of the readers will not read the content if the headline is not catchy enough.

You can go ahead and google your topic and analyze the results. You’ll see similar headlines all over the result pages.

Your job as a writer is to offer something different. Tell me how your blog is different from those appearing in Google searches.

Make it emotional, or humorous, or write statistics in your headline.

Ask a question or provide a solution to the problem of the reader. Add some curiosity, and the reader will be forced to click on the article.

Here are some examples:

Each of these headlines conveys a message, creates curiosity, or asks a question to which the reader needs an answer.

2. Begin with the right hook

A hook is the opening line, the paragraph of your blog. It can either engage the reader or drive them away.

Make it interesting. Make it a mystery.

Here are some examples:

Asking a question and stating what you’ll learn in the blog.

Giving facts to explain how it will help

3. Share an experience

Every day you learn some things, experience some emotions, and bring hope to some people. And at times, some people give hope to you too.

When you share an experience with your readers, it creates a bond with them.?

Tim Denning does it all the time. Now, I know tons of things from his life. Nicolas Cole shared some breathtaking life moments with his readers. Even?Niharikaa Kaur Sodhi shared her story, after which I became her fan. As a writer, could you share what you felt at the particular moment? Moments that changed your life forever. These are the things that touch readers and make them stick to your writing.

4. Teach something you know

I am a writer, so I often share writing tips ?with readers. It is my way of giving something to the new writers.

Maybe you know something better than others. Teach that skill to the readers. You’ll tap an audience who wants to learn about that skill. Engage them, teach them, and they’ll gladly share your writing with friends and family.

5.?Give people hope

I often get fan messages from people and friends who share that they re-read my articles every morning for motivation. This makes me glad and satisfied. And this is why I will never stop writing.

Hope is a gift. It’s something you give to people whom you care about. If you’ve read my articles, you might know that each article provides hope.

To engage people with writing, give them hope. Share stories, lessons, and content that changes them emotionally.

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing (about).” ~Ben Franklin
