Failure: we’ve all experienced it, because it’s just inevitable. Even the most successful and fabulous celebrities and big-name entrepreneurs have dealt with failure, no matter how unbelievable that may seem! That’s just how life is - we don’t always get what we want. But we must take what we do get and push forward in order to eventually see the results that we seek.
If you’re actually afraid of failure instead of just disliking it, it may not be as easy to push through those disappointing moments. So I’ve come up with five ways to overcome your fear of failure this year! I know that you have so much potential inside of you, so don’t let failure (or even the possibility of failure) force you into keeping your magic hidden away. It’s time to stand up to failure and show off what you’re made of!
1 - Reframe failure as learning opportunities
Instead of viewing failure as a negative outcome, see it as a valuable learning experience! Like I always say, failure teaches you much more than success ever can. With failure, you learn what did work, what didn’t work, and what could be improved or changed. It’s like the scientific method we all learned in school: sometimes our hypothesis doesn’t align with the results, so we gotta analyze the results, figure out what happened and why, and then rework our hypothesis. Learning to love failure makes you a better learner and teacher!
2 - Set realistic goals
Break down your larger goals into smaller, more manageable tasks. By setting achievable and realistic milestones, you can experience success throughout your journey, plus boost your confidence and diminish your fear of failure. Don’t have one end goal in mind - have several smaller ones to keep you excited and in check!
3 - Shift your perspective
Recognize that failure is not a reflection of your worth by separating your identity from your actions or outcomes. Understand that everyone encounters setbacks, and that these moments absolutely do not diminish your capabilities. You have so much to offer the world; don’t let one mistake or moment of failure shadow all of that. Keep believing in yourself!
4 - Visualize success
Believing is seeing, so create a positive mental image of your success! Visualization can help reduce anxiety about failure by focusing your mind on the positive outcome you desire, and reinforce a mindset geared towards success and growth. Utilize the power of vision boards, visualization guides, and meditation to help achieve this.

5 - Build resilience
Staying strong and unwavering can combat your fear of failure. Develop coping mechanisms for setbacks in order to cultivate resilience, and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth instead of roadblocks standing in the way of your growth and success. Surround yourself with a supportive network as well, and remember that resilience is a skill that can be strengthened overtime - it’s not something that you perfect on the first try! Take little steps each day to build up your resilience muscle, and eventually you will truly be resilient!
I hope that this was helpful for all of you entrepreneurs out there - entrepreneurship is not for the weak, so learning to stay strong and resilient is essential in order to stay in the game. Keep pushing ahead until you achieve the goals you desire; giving up is the only true failure in this world. Realize the magic you have, and share it with the world!
