Do you wish recruiting was easy? Or that lowering staff turnover was a simple process??
In fact, you can literally have people begging to work for you.?
You just need to know how.?
That’s why this week for our Fast Five I am giving you 5 of my top tips for making people beg to work for you.?
- Get Creative. Your recruitment ads should be just as creative and inspiring as your ads for your services/products. A great example is this recruitment ad from sodastream. Yes this really is the level of effort you need to put in to find the best talent. Posting a list of demands on a job board just isn’t going to cut it anymore so get creative, really think about what your ideal candidates want and most importantly answer the question “Why the %$&^ would they want to work for you?”. If you can’t answer that question and get excited about the answer, recruitment is going to be HARD.
- The Best First Day. One of the best ways to get people to beg to work for you is to create an amazing experience for your team. Have you ever thought about the first experience employees have with your business — their first day? I could go on and on about how to create the perfect welcome and onboarding process, but I think this video from Dan Heath explains it just as well. If you create these kinds of experiences for your team, they will talk to their friends and suddenly they will want to work for you. Or they tell others to work for you, and then recruiting becomes easy.
- Inspire Them With A Mission And Great Leadership. With the great resignation and the re-negotiation of contracts happening around the world at the moment, money cannot be the only thing keeping someone employed with you. Most people want to know they are making a positive impact with the work they are doing. So it’s time to sit down with your employees and run through your company values, your WHY. Get them onboard, get them feeling like they are making a difference, and watch their productivity soar. In line with this, make sure that your leaders also embody your values, and know how to effectively lead people. Oftentimes you don’t need more team members, just better levels of productivity which can be inspired with the right values, culture, and supportive leadership.
- No More Job Descriptions. Job descriptions are extremely outdated. They stay stagnant and as someone progresses in a role, they usually become a constraining box that stops them from thriving. Instead I prefer Tours Of Duty. These can be worked on in collaboration with each of your team members and can be updated each 6 to 12 months as their role grows. Allowing your employees to thrive.
- Have A Culture Not Just Pizza Parties. The really big secret to attracting employees? Having a culture that precedes your business. If your company is known for supporting its team, training them to be the best version of themselves, and really living by the values you’ve created, you’ll notice people lining up just to work for you.?
