There are many ways for charities, businesses, and individuals to make a difference. Below you will find the top 5 ways to standout prior to #GivingTuesday from a panel of digital marketing and nonprofit experts. For additional resources, and to create your #GivingTuesday profile, visit the official #GivingTuesday website at www.givingtuesday.org.
1. Its all about the buzz. (Start your #GivingTuesday story now)
Giving Tuesday falls on a Tuesday, but you can start your messaging up to a few weeks ahead of time with email and social media promotion, including on the weekend. Below we will give you some ideas to help with the strategy.
2. Inspire all generations to Give to your non-profit
Giving Tuesday is a very social and hashtag-friendly day of giving, which appeals to Millennials. Be sure to make all aspects of your campaign mobile-friendly, from your emails to your donation page. Also, be sure to encourage social sharing, which Millennials are sure to use to tell their friends.
3. Use Social Media to Empower Your Giving Tuesday Fundraising
Social media is the perfect platform to push out #Giving Tuesday messaging that is centered around real-world examples, quotes from people your non-profit has helped, and lots of photos. Tell your story at Giving Tuesday on all your social channels, and encourage social sharing whenever possible.
PRO TIP: use the hashtag #GivingTuesday and #GivingTuesday2019, and to be sure to use as many photos of yourself and others (and tag them!) as possible.
People are 3-5x more likely to click on photos with faces, and that number skyrockets whenever the face is either recognizable or tagged with a name.
4. Use Video to Inspire Giving
Create a short video to promote your #GivingTuesday campaign so you can tell your story and encourage participation, sharing and giving. A short minute-long video created on a smartphone is a great way to incorporate video. Another video approach is to schedule a Facebook Live event to connect with your followers.
5. Create Social Media Images with a Clear Call to Action
Photos and images are an important promotion tool and can be posted on social media, shared with your peer network, and offered to your donors after they make a donation. I recommend easy tools like Canva to create images for social media.
Conclusion
Start your #GivingTuesday planning now and leverage images and stories to let your audience know the great work that you did in 2019 and will continue to do in 2020.

5 年Great article Linda. The multigenerational appeal is something many organizations are struggling with. I grew up in a "giving-back" family, even if it meant just my time. It starts very early in the home. We are grateful to live in a city that has philanthropy as a generational trait.??
