5 Ways to help you recruit:

Getting access to candidates has plenty of challenges, not least attracting the right people at the right time.

But you can do your bit to get yourself closer to the candidates. Here are 5 steps to help boost the recruitment of candidates.

?

1)???????? Where you advertise. Most companies will advertise nowadays on LinkedIn or Indeed however most candidates will also be using their University careers services, one of 10 or so wider job boards. Limiting advertising to just a couple of job boards massively reduces on who actually sees the advert. If you are not doing this, think outside of the box about where your candidate might go for job adverts. Look at the top 10 UK job boards and get onto more of these, advertise locally at your University, School or College, blog about it yourself like I am here!

2)???????? Check with your current team. Do you have a referral scheme internally? Make one it is as easy as writing an email to say “we now have a referral scheme!’. Go you! For the sake of £50 in an envelope if it works out (hypothetically, for tax purposes I know we don’t do that) you would be surprised how many companies have a friend referred in.

3)???????? Approach people proactively. LiCa Scientific has an access portal which allows you to select your own candidates. Because this removes 50% or more of our work, it's cheaper than engaging us on a full search and suits clients who are happy to be proactive in their Talent Acquisition. https://www.licasci.com/cm/employers/candidate-profile-search

4)???????? Improve your market impact. Nowadays the market responds to blogs, video content and reviews more than ever. Many of the review stars we see however are ruined by a tiny few, who take to the review sites to air grievances. This then becomes part of your PR whether you like it or not. One poor review I recently read criticised the location of a chemical plant as not being near enough to their house. Unreasonable though this may seem as criticism, people just see the low stars on Google decide it's a bad place and rarely dig deeper. You can combat a low score very honestly by asking the whole team to review you. While you can’t remove a bad review, you can statistically alter their impact by getting in more good ones. A website like Glasdoor or Google will always have more impact than your own. Look into your ratings on these websites.

5)???????? Go to the source of the candidates. Good market engagement is about more than ‘we have a job’ and starts months or years before you write an advert. Part of the reason I spend time at Schools and Universities is I know in 2 or 3 years these same people will be working with me as candidates. Do engage with the students studying the subjects today, who will be your candidates of tomorrow Get involved in your community and it will reward you on other reciprocal ways. I have met a lot of commercial partners on campuses by sheer chance and you will feel good helping people climb the ladder if nothing else!

We are always available to discuss your own recruitment at whichever stage you may be and hope you found this helpful! ?
