5 Ways To Give Better Feedback

5 Ways To Give Better Feedback

Happy FriYay!

Another Friday Fast 5 coming your way.?

This week I wanted to talk about feedback!?

Why??

Because feedback when given correctly is true kindness. It gives us the opportunity to do better and grow.?

So if you are avoiding feedback you are robbing your team of growth.?

Without dragging it out anymore below are 5 tips for improving feedback.?

  1. Make It A Habit. Regularly scheduled check-ins, whether it be with the whole group or on an individual basis, can help identify potential issues early on - all while fostering healthy relationships amongst everyone involved. Let's make this part of our weekly routine to ensure that honest dialogue is always welcome in our workspace!
  2. Sandwich. Some of you may have heard of the feedback sandwich approach before. Where you start with a compliment, then give some constructive feedback, then finish with something else they are doing well. And I think this is a great way to start introducing both positive and negative feedback. Just remember in order for this to work the compliments and positive feedback need to be genuine and match the level of intensity of the constructive feedback. If this two conditions aren’t meant this will come across as inauthentic and potentially could offend your team members.
  3. Praise In Public. We all need a pat on the back from time to time. Recognising team members for great work fortifies their enthusiasm, lets everyone know that hard work is appreciated, and even strengthens office morale.
  4. Reprimand In Private. When we do need to correct someone’s execution of a task make sure you pull them aside privately. Constructive feedback should always be given in a private setting to ensure that the employee can better comprehend and address criticism without feeling embarrassed or judged. By focusing on solutions rather than negative connotations, it fosters open communication while encouraging growth and development among your team members.
  5. Weekly Accountability. To ensure project timelines run smoothly and effective feedback is given, my team sets weekly accountability goals. This method allows us to anticipate any potential issues that could arise along the way rather than just at the end of a project. Plus it gives us an opportunity for earlier interventions when needed.

Which of these tips are you ready to implement to create better feedback loops in your business?

Keep an eye out for another fast 5 next week!
