This week, when that 3pm slump hits—instead of reaching for a quick-fix like coffee or sugar, that ultimately won’t last, try these simple energy-boosting activities instead that your brain and body will love.
As an added bonus, they’ll even help you shake off stress, get more creative, and focus too.
You’re welcome.
- Get moving
Working from home means a lot of sitting.us sit in one place all day. Office jobs have always been sedentary—but thanks to video meetings, we’re not even getting up to move from meeting room to meeting room. Try incorporating some short bursts of movement into your work day, this is a great place to start. You might feel silly, but that’s the beauty of working from home—no one is watching.
2. Shuffle your soundtrack
Music can have a big effect on your mood. Find what works for you, whether that’s chilled jazz or club anthems, but don’t be afraid to switch it up if you’re feeling sluggish. Our go-togo to when we need a quick boost of energy? Check it out here. (Singing along: not optional.)
3. Hydrate yourself
If you read last week’s newsletter you’ll know what we’re about to say: reach for water over energy drinks or coffee. Dehydration can make you feel drainedsluggish and unfocused, so make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day. (That’s roughly 2-3L)
4. Value your vitamins
-Of course we’re going to say that, but it’s true. B vitamins especially play a key role in your energy levels. B vitamins are what our cells need to generate energy and they are one of the most common nutrient deficiencies. Read more about B vitamins here.
5. Take a break
If even after you’ve exhausted all of these you’re still feeling unmotivated and… well… exhausted then don’t be afraid to just stop. Yes, really.
If you’re getting distracted easily, don’t force yourself to keep going. Go for a walk, call your mum, or have a nap.
Sometimes it’s best to take a break, reset, and come back to it later.

I totally agree with point one! When the kids were home it was really hard to get out moving and I found I was so much more tired all the time!
