5 Ways Embracing Remote Work Can Help A Business

Once upon a time, arriving at our jobs at the stroke of 9 am and clocking out by 5:30 pm was simply the way offices all over the world functioned for the most part. Today, amid our digital age, the way we work, and conduct business has had a drastic makeover.

We no longer are tied to our desks in an office setting and a strict timeline of clocking in and out. Though for some businesses, this continues to be the norm. Perhaps it is because they refuse to trust their employees, or another reason could be that these businesses simply do not know how or where to even begin.

As business owners ponder the logistics of it all and what software to rely on to help them maintain a level of trust, structure, and organization, it is clear now more than ever that shifting to at least some level of remote work within businesses can be increasingly beneficial.

Given the recent updates within the United States alone due to a worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses are becoming more open-minded to the idea of teleworking.

Several educational institutions, entertainment businesses, and even networking organizations are starting to pivot as quickly as possible during this confusing and somewhat stressful time around the world.

For businesses to start embracing remote work, it’s important to outline the benefits and how implementing this can only help a business in the long run.

Here are 5 reasons to embrace remote work:

  • It improves the way businesses and their employees can work and studies have shown that it can increase productivity.
  • A business's talent pool can be massively widened, considering that it is no longer limited to candidates within the same city or state.
  • With a myriad of tools and software available to easily facilitate remote work and maintain trust and structure, it is no longer such a challenge to implement a remote work plan.
  • Remote work opens up several opportunities for our society as a whole. It creates chances for people to work with a company or in a role, they may not have had access to before due to disabilities, distance, or other personal family circumstances.
  • Employee retention rates are improved when a business puts trust and freedom in the hands of its workers. The appeal of flexible work schedules and the potential for an enhanced work-life balance are major factors in keeping employees happy and sticking around for years to come.

The list of ways embracing remote work can help a business, in the long run, can go on, but to drive home the critical point here, remote work implementation does not have to be an all-or-nothing approach either.

It can very much so be a productive and even cost-effective solution for businesses to reconsider their traditional means of conducting business. Splitting time between remote work and a workplace has all sorts of benefits that not only keep employees happy but can be quite rewarding for business owners, too.

Yes! It would be wonderful for some companies to implement a plan that allows employees to work from home when necessary. I'm all for the appropriate precautions but with all the sudden school and public program closures, I can't imagine how many families are left at a disadvantage financially by missing work. Very lovely article!
