5 ways to build trust in sales

Did you know that 82% of salespeople believe that their prospects/customers would rate their trustworthiness on scale 1-10, as 9 or 10?

In actuality, only 16% of buyers say they trust salespeople.

Such results clearly state that the majority of Sales people have poor mindsets and skillsets. I have consulted and trained hundreds of salespeople from different age groups. Conclusion is, whether a salesperson has been in business for 1 or 20 years, they will be stuck mainly in their first successful sales period for life if not changed the pattern.

Majority market them self as having 20 years behind their career, but actually using knowledge from the first successful sales months and now repeating the pattern even the market has changed. This will eventually drive down sales results and missing quotas.

How to become and remain a great salesperson. This is a million dollar question :)

Answer is easy but the way to success asks a lot from the individual. It means you need to work hard on your habits and truths you have become so used to.

Every successful salesperson has its intent focused on customer needs in first place. This builds trust and long-lasting relations. Business is done by people, not companies. That means you have to grow your character and be trustworthy. Once you keep your intent right and follow the path, you will become your customer’s trusted advisor. This is where the magic starts with you and with your customer.

5 ways how to build trust in sales:

  • Make a connection - Implement conversation plan to create interest
  • Establish credibility - reduce your inner fear and get thru your prospects’ gatekeeper
  • Show empathy - listen carefully and put yourself on to their shoes once asking questions.
  • Provide nonverbal cues - Body language is crucial, then your voice tone and words.
  • Be consistent - keep your promises and always deliver
